Rear Lower Shock Guard for King 2.5?
Does anyone know if the Icon Lower Shock Shin Guard is compatible with the King OEM 2.5 shocks? I have damage from rocks and have also noticed pitting on the shaft from sand and such flinging from the front tire. I figure the rocks is my fault and could be avoided with better lines, but the pitting is something that needs to be addressed!! Thanks

they'll probably fit fine. those shin guards should be a required purchase with any set of high-end rear shocks; just like quality UCAs with a set of high-end coilovers.

I run boots now after I demolished my first set of shafts in about 10,000 km.
lesson learned. I wish I didn't listen to every bootless opinion I read online.
My rod ends took a beating too. those shin guards might be the answer!

Awesome. Thanks guys! I have contacted the vendor to see if they are available and will post back once installed. I am thinking of using bicycle chain stay "chain guard" type of material to protect the shaft. Not sure how well that would work when it gets compressed during shock travel but would be easy to install with velcro just like installing on a bike.

OP here. Wanted to follow up and post what an excellent product FJ Toyman makes. The build quality and fit is excellent and this design is supper strong and will protect the shock bottom end. Now I just need to figure something to protect the shaft from pitting damage. As mentioned earlier, this type of protection should be considered mandatory for any high end shock.

I've run these on my last two trucks, excellent rock protection but reaffirming that you're still going to get some pitting on the shaft if you run these alone.

Search Amazon for shock boots. Zip tie them to the bottom of the shock body and the rod end, or leave the bottom open, depending on your preference. Either way, they protect the shock shaft from pitting.
I think mine are Rancho or Procomp; not sure but it doesn't matter, they are disposable.

Thanks for posting this. Your photos are much better than the website photos. I couldn't tell how they attached from the website.
Lawn Dart is a wild man in Baja. Good thing he had these.
ICON makes a neoprene shock boot that will protect the shaft.

For the Procomp boots, do you worry if they are designed for 2.5" or just buy whatever and slice them open along their length anyway and zip tie top and bottom. I see some manufacturers offer 2.5" but those are more like $30 a pair instead of $7. I also bumped into Dirt Bagz product which is a Velcro design but seems it is more intended for coil-over applications.
