35x10.5r17

Has any one successfully run 35x10.5r17 on their 5th gen?
The super swamper ssr.
If so what did you have to do to accomplish this?
Thanks!

35's can and have been done. It does take some special compensation, but it can be done with a "standard" 3" lift. A 1" body mount helps. I plan to go to a 34" tire with my next tire without a body mount lift.

It will require a 3" lift and aftermarket UCA's and a body mount chop, and possibly some pounding of the fender seam in the fender well and a body lift, but it has successfully been done. My son is running 35's on his 4th Gen with less rubbing than my 5th Gen on 33's with a 2" lift, UCA's and body mount chop. I'm running 4.5 degrees of castor and rubbing the fender flair. He's running slightly less castor with no rubbing at all.

I did search.
I found only info about 35x12.5w.
I'm specifically trying to find out about 10.5 wide tires.
The biggest issue with 35's I believe is the width when turning.
A wider tire requires a wider wheel which usually means a bigger offset to go with it. That width and offset push the tire out which when turning puts it closer to body mount and fender well. I was thinking with the skinnier tire and maybe a factory wheel keeping it tucked in closer might make it more doable.

Fit? Yes.

How well? Eh.....

Even on a +2 long travel setup the issue stops being so much of having enough body mount chop but the overall space inside the fender for uptravel.

When guys are running 34s, and absolutely beating up their fender wells, you can understand how 35s are just that much worse.

On the street it may not be an issue, but once you start cycling the suspension at speed something is going to give, and that's almost always sheet metal.

Does anyone even make a 35x10.5x17, other than Interco's SSRs?

I know Interco makes a 34x9.. putting them on my Rover. Not sure if they have them in 17's though.

Only other tire that comes to mind are those Michelin military tires, XL/XZL's?

No and not to bash but having had multiple sets on rigs over the years, not SSR's but Iroks, boggers and regular swappers....I'd never run this noisy, poor handling tires on a daily driver. Ever.

Yikes.

I've never ran one but looked at that tire as a possible spare for 35x12.5s all around... It would most likely fit under deflated as a spare.

It would probably fit pretty easy on all 4 corners if you wanted to run them. Just might need to bump stop the front a bit more... Interesting tire for sure.

Tire clearance takes some skill and some adjustments of various types. Lots of trial and error. Not for the avg user.
