DIY Full Length Rack

Well I finally did it. Built a full length bolt on rack for my T4R. I need to fab up a wind deflector but this S TX heat is slowing me down.

I used 16 gauge 1" tubing and 3/4 flat expanded metal.
I fabricated the brackets and did all the welding on this build.
I had fun working on this but next time I will have to wait for the cooler months.

Total cost is under $175

Here are some pics.

NICE! Are you planning to fab some feet for the front and use 3m tape to hold them too the roof?

Nice job! Feel like more and more people that have the talent will do this kind of thing as Gobi delivery times get longer and longer. I've got the design skills but infinitesimal welding experience or tools otherwise I'd do this in a heartbeat.

I have thought about it. I will most likely build two later this year and then put them up for sale, locally. But, I will build first then put them up for sale. I like keeping busy and this definitely kept me busy.

I agree with your statement. Luckily the Army taught me how to weld, without that skill this job would not be possible. As for the lead times from Gobi they do seem a little longer than they should be. Total time for me was about 32 labor hours, but now having done it once I feel I can do it in much better time.

Great job, the rack looks good. I recently built myself a 3/4 flat rack.
I would say the best part of doing it yourself is the savings.

Gobi's and Baja's are so over priced it's ridiculous, and then wait months to receive them.

HELOTESTXTRD - Saw your rig at OP this morning. Waited around for you a bit, must have just missed you. I saw the rack and it looks GREAT.
