Best Way to order a cavalry blue trd pro 2018

I am looking to order a 2018 trd pro in cavalry blue, and all the dealers are telling me they cant get me one? Anyone recommend some dealers near utah that can get me one that is not over msrp?

Thanks

Matt

Just call around to every dealership until one is willing to take a deposit and put you on the top of their waitlist. Might have to look further than Utah. I'm in Colorado and had to get mine shipped from North Dakota.

Step 1. Buy white TRD Off Road Premium.

Step 2. Buy TRD Pro grille and skid plate.

Step 3. Have body shop re-paint Cavalry Blue.

Step 4. Spend savings on

Best of luck with that or just buy a Scion There seems to be this strange fascination with paying whatever it costs to get one of these "custom" colors. This 15%+ of pro owners are a weird bunch. They'll pay 5k over MSRP drive it for a year then sell it at MSRP... and think they got some good deal with the resale... huh?

most pro owners.. especially the ones on the forums do not pay more then msrp.. still not a great deal for what it is.

unrelated but can't seem to find a thread on this...was wondering if anyone has noticed dealerships listing slightly used 14'-17' trail/trd off-road models as sr5s. browsing cargurus online in my area and there are 2 trails listed (and priced) as sr5s. currently have an sr5 but would love to upgrade to a trail.

You meant this as a joke, right???

If not, how much do you think a repainted car detracts from resale value? What might such a paint job cost in your mind??

So if you buy it at MSRP drive it for a year and then sell it at MSRP you are not "weird?"

This is not a new color 2011 FJ's shipped with Cavalry Blue. Any quality paint shop will have it.

I read the TRD Pro thread but yeah you say most, and my post refers to "some" custom color buyers.

Yes it's a joke.

I don't know about value. TRD Pro is an appearance package, I'm not sure a custom paint would be much different. Once the 6th gen comes out the "TRD Pro" won't have any special value either. If the paint is well done, no one will know the difference. It's a port installed appearance package so there's no special vin code or anything to designate it as a TRD Pro.

A repaint on a new vehicle would have minimal body prep, but to do it right you'd have a good amount of labor to remove the engine and all the trim pieces.. I'd expect to pay about $5-8k for a full paint job including the door jams and engine bay, or about $3500 if the engine bay doesn't get repainted. If you started with black it probably wouldn't look out of place.

I joked that I was going to repaint my black '16 to that other blue color the FJ Cruiser had (electric blue or something?) and my wife didn't even bat an eye and agreed to it. Pretty much have to now, right?

Of course you have to paint the engine bay!

Now that you have established that there are no "savings" under your "joke" scenario, I would be prepared to wager that in 5 years the TRD Pro model will retain more of its original MSRP than any other 4RUNNER model.

Again all about resale value, of course it will sell for 1-2k more five years down the road, to one of the weirdos I was talking about earlier. Who gives a fk'. Unless you have a four mile boner for the limited color you're ridiculous to buy a standard color TRDP. Put the word "Pro" on anything and someone will pay more for it.
