gaterose (wife) build thread
We finally pulled the trigger and traded in my (wife's) '03 Limited 2WD on a '14 Limited 2WD. A few years back my wife started driving the '03 and, at 240K, the old girl was getting a little long in the tooth.
We were planning for a 4WD but couldn't pass up the deal on this. This was actually the only 2WD we test drove and we went to the dealer to test drive a higher mileage 4WD Limited we looked at last Sunday but it was sold. After driving a Trail Premium then this we decided she doesn't need a 4WD since we're in south Texas and I have one.
Plans are to level, add a little meatier tires, maybe Spidertrax since I took them off my old one, black out the chrome, and... watch my wife drive it to work every day.

For anyone interested in my current ride, here's the build thread for my '17 Tacoma

Haha thanks! This is actually my wife's although, after driving it to work yesterday, I'm wishing I got one of these instead of the Tacoma. But I felt like I needed a truck bed...
I didn't realize you had upgraded. Your old 4R was a beast, you have similar plans for the '17?

Nice! I recently upgraded my 11 SR5 Premium 4x4 to a 14 Limited 4x4. Love the way it handles and the upgraded JBL speakers. What dealership did you go to? I see you're in SA. I'm in Kerrville and went to North Park.

We got this one from North Park as well. I got my Tacoma from Cavender but I preferred the people at North Park by far, they just didn't have what I needed on the lot.

Ya finally sold the 05. Was tough to let it go.
Not quite as extensive of a build with this one but will be building it up a bit. We are taking longer camping trips rather than day wheeling trips and so I am going to be doing a bit different build.
Loved your rig as well and excited to see how this one pans out for you guys!

Definitely good people over there. Keep an eye on the front bumper corners. Mine were bulging out after I took it home. They came and picked it up and dropped it off in Kerrville at least 4 times before getting it resolved.

Just replaced the Daystar 2.5/1.5 and XREAS with Dobinsons C59-448 & C59-325 and Bilstein 5100s that I picked up last winter but have been lazy af about installing.
Got around 3/2 I'd guess, didn't measure.
Will probably need some UCAs in the near future but it'll be ok for now.

Great looking 4R. It has a nice aggressive stance with the raise and tires.

Need to update this post -
Wife got a flat and Discount Tire refused to repair the 275 on stock 20x7. Since they installed them, they agreed to buy the Duratracs back at a prorated value. Decided it was a good time to get smaller wheels and bigger tires. Vision 18x9 -10 with 275/70R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
Blacked out some of the chrome. I'm not good with vinyl and will probably pull it off and paint it later, but happy with the look.
Last I added Icon Delta Joint UCAs that I painted to match her Dobinsons coils.

Upgraded the speakers a couple weeks ago, I posted a thread but also meant to throw some photos in here
Swapped in some Kicker CS 6x9s in the front door, CS 6.75s in the rear doors, and DS 3.5s in the dash. My understanding is that the crossover is built into the HU so the 6x9s are not actually 3-ways in this application. I'm fine with that since stand alone woofers aren't cheap.
I noticed a huge improvement in sound quality, the overall volume may be slightly reduced but it's hard to say since one of the dash speakers was blown. The wife is very impressed. Somehow despite not noticing the dash speaker was blown, she did ask me the very next day if I had installed new speakers because she thought it sounded great. These were a surprise for her and I was curious if she'd notice so I didn't tell her.
Also - because all the photos I saw while searching for information about this swap showed a simple cheap 2.5" one-way speaker in the dash. This is what I pulled out - 2-way 2.5" with built in crossover/bass blocker. The speakers in the back door were also 2-ways with built in crossover/bass blocker

Curious what the cost of the speaker upgrade was and if there's anything to watch out for in making that change.
