If anyone can a pic of the hose clamp fix would be great. It's been minor, but now that it's colder it's louder.

no pic, but you literally take a hose clamp and you put it around the entire rubber hanger, and as you tighten the clamp down, it raises the rubber hanger, and exhaust pipe.
It literally takes 5 minutes to fix and about 3 dollars.
Sorry, no pics, but once you look under your car, it will make sense.

Happily stumbled upon this as I have a rattle that has surfaced recently. Loudest at idle or stopped in gear. Going to check it right now!

Yea, same here. Doesn't rattle every time, but when it does it is at idle with a colder temperature. Thanks for the clamp pics!

I guess I'll find out soon if it is an issue, mine is supposed to be delivered today. Although my exhaust has been "clearanced" a little so maybe it won't be a problem.

Please let us know when you have it installed.
I just bought a full skid plate package with the group buy and verified through some connections that a recent install with a 5th gen doesn't rattle or rub.
I'm sure I'll find out soon enough when I go to install, and knowing all the parts I might need to have on hand before starting the install.
Glad there are solutions for everyone though, that's a good thing to know it can be fixed.

I have heard about a option to reroute exhaust and gain a bit of clearance. Anybody has a reference I could show to a local muffler shop?

Did they fix this with their new versions?
I don’t think I’ve noticed any sounds on

I was talking about an option that another skid plate maker quotes that this pipe can be moved up, and skid plate moved up a whole inch.

Mine ended up with about 1/4" or so clearance. I went out wheeling after install and never heard any noise from it.
On a side note, the rubber mount on mine doesn't appear as stretched out at the one in the pics on how to fix it with a hose clamp.

Moving the exhaust will cost way more. I eventually did that because I wanted to raise the t-case skid up an inch...

That's what I did as per your post and it has worked great.
So I can add yet another confirmation that this works very well. I have used that skid plate many times already, as BO angle is the rig's weakest spot, and there is still no noise with the clamp in place.

It’s funny, I didn’t notice any sounds initially, but after getting stuck in the mud pretty badly now I notice lots of rattle. It must have pushed the skid plate up a bit or something. Either way, I’ll try one of these fixes....

Just a heads up that RCI now ships their 5th Gen T4R transfer case skidplates with small spacers that are big enough to avoid this very problem.
I don't mind at all that I'll have 1/8"-1/4" less ground clearance in this area if it means not having to do any additional mods to prevent potential exhaust rattle.
Happy offroading.
