is there a Canadian address where we can get this done north of the border? I've worked with the guys at Gifford's Automotive in Ottawa before but I'm wondering if this is more of a beta thing they don't have access to.

Since it's still in its testing phase the update is only available directly from our office in the US. However once it's released Gifford would certainly be where you could get the latest firmware.

Normally we try to have units updated and on their way back the day they come in. It's usually 2-3 days from there.

Put mine in the mail today. You should have it early next week. Very excited to test. Thank you ScanGuage and OP for making this pilot available to the rest of us.

I just ordered another ScanGuage2 to get this tires function. My previous one was sent in to get horsepower display programmed in. I would probably also like to have that done again if I can. The new one probably doesn't come with a horsepower display function already there out of the box.

Sent mine in last week.
How do we know which wheel is TM1, TM2, etc.?
Will we lose the already programed XGauge settings?
And, what exactly do you mean by experimental firmware? Will we need to again update when its no longer experimental?

This is awesome. One of the only things I miss from the 2017 Tacoma!

I'm not sure if the tire number correlates to a specific tire to be honest. From what I understand with the TPMS programming procedure, any tire pressure sensor can be programmed to any tire number. It's possible there's a specific order that's used when they're programmed at the factory though.

With the update, everything is cleared out as the previous program is overwritten, but if you include a note asking for any particular XGauges or settings to be set before they're being sent back our update team should put them back in for you.

It's experimental in the sense that it's the latest firmware with the extra code needed to access the TPMS data tacked onto it. It's not been fully tested so there's always a possibility (even though it's a pretty small possibility) there could be a bug in there that would need to be fixed. Thus I always prefer to let people know it's experimental in case any bugs are found. Most likely it will work fine and you'll have a unit with essentially the latest firmware which won't require any updates though.

I did a little more research here and it appears the 5th gens do not have TPMS in the spare tires, but the #5 TPMS is in the ECU. Would be good to have for those of use who replace wheels/tires with 5 new ones where all 5 wheels have TPMS and would like to monitor pressure in the spare.
However......our sensors also transmit tire temps (see screenshot below). If you are updating the software for pressure, can temperature also be investigated or added? Just a thought.
Shipped out my ScanGauge II today for update.

I already sent mine in so can’t add a note but would like the two Trans Temp Codes entered. I’m Dave from PA so hopefully there aren’t others.
As for which code goes to which wheel, I’m confused here. Do we also need to enter our tpms codes when we get them back to have them match 1,2, etc.?

I believe I can get tire temperature reporting as well. I'll send the XGauges to ehcanadian to try them out and see. If anyone else who's recently updated their ScanGauge to the newer firmware would like to try what I have to tire temperature just send me a PM and I'll toss them your way.

I'll let our upgrades department know you want the two trans temp codes re-entered into your unit after it's updated.

Basically the XGauges will allow you to view the data for tire ID's 1 - 5. What tires correspond to what ID's may be random. Some people may find Tire ID 1 is reporting data from their right rear tire, while others may find it's their left front tire. That's just an assumption on my part, but I think it's a safe assumption. The TPMS registration process allows you to map any TPMS sensor ID to any Tire ID, thus any tire could be represented by any of the Tire ID's.
Ultimately to figure it out you'd just have to air out a tire then check to see which tire ID had a drop in pressure. If you let some air out of your front driver side wheel, and you see the pressure for Tire ID 2 drop, then you'd know Tire ID 2 is your front driver side tire. Once you figure them out you'd be able to then go back and change the XGauge Name to something like FLP (Front Left Pressure) to make it easier to know what a specific tire's pressure is.

Appreciate it.
I didn't know (or didn't remember) that the XGauge Names could be changed but that should work well then. I'll play it when I get mine back.

I've been playing around with mine, and once I figured out what tire was reading to which monitor, then just put them in that order on the display to correspond, figured it would be simpler.(I was thinking about tire rotations) I'm also brand new to the scan gauge so maybe once I fiddle with it more, things will be easier

Cool! Thanks!
Once we get our updated units back, will the pressure XGauges already be programmed in as part of new software? Or will we need to get codes from you and enter them ourselves? You guys will be getting my unit tomorrow, Michael from Virginia.
