Three Clicks = Alarm
Hello Runners,
So, I recently purchased a Compustar remote start system from an individual on these forums and installed it myself. It works GREAT! I'm very happy with it, except..... the alarm goes off from time to time when starting it. I'd say about every third or fourth time I start it via the three-click OEM key fob method, the damn alarm goes off. It seems to be from clicking the button too fast, but that doesn't set it off every time. I'm a little perplexed by this issue.
I am just about 100% done reading the owner's manual and I cannot find an explanation for this. Does anyone else's alarm go off if you click the lock button 3 times fast? The way the Compustar system is programmed to start is 3 SLOW clicks of the lock button on the OEM remote. e.g. click......................click.................. ....click. then it starts. But, for my vehicle, if you click. click. click. It goes BEEEP BEEEP BEEEP!
Anybody????

I have some cheap shit SE Toyota "SECURITY" button that adds some alarm functionality to the door locks on my 13 TE.
If you hit the lock button after the lights go off after you've locked the doors (not that I do because my door locks are broken, again) the alarm will go off. It'll also go off if you hit the lock button in rapid succession.

I would take it back to where you got it installed and have them look it over again. I have Compustar remote start on mine and 3 fast clicks on my stock key fob on the lock actually remote starts my car. I also have drone mobile integrated as well so my set up may be slightly different than someone who is running just the remote start.

I actually installed it myself, but I'm 99% confident in my work. After all, aside from the alarm going off from time to time it actually works great! The gentleman who sent it to me (pre-programmed and wired up) offered to reprogram the Blade AI module if I need. I'm just trying to see if anyone else has had the problem before I go that route.
Mine is a Compustar FT-7200S-CONT. I am also installing the Drone Mobile module in a week or so when it comes in right now all I have is the OEM key start functionality. Hearing that yours has no issues definitely makes me think it's a programming problem with mine. I'm gonna contact the guy now. Just for clarification, what year is your truck, and do you know the model of your Compustar?
Two more questions for you:
-If you have your lights on, and you let the full 15 mins elapse and your truck turns off, do your lights turn off or stay on?
-Do you like your Drone Mobile functionality?

I think you're on the right track, a pulse setting needs to be re-programmed in the auto start module. I just had a Viper unit installed in mine but it's coded so only the Viper Remote auto starts the vehicle. But in the shop it would start just fine with a quick depress of the associated button. At work, across the parking lot where I had to keep the button depressed a half second the alarm went off each time. Right next to the vehicle, quick depress - never. Seems it was a pulse setting in the system and easily re-programmed. $hit happens
I had the Viper 4105V one way system installed. Very happy with it. I don't know the answer to your other question on timing out, my guess is the same thing would happen as if I pressed the auto start button again (lights would turn off with the engine - which it does). The feature I like best on this unit is being able to hit the button while its running in park, remove the key - stays running, can lock the doors while I run into the variety store etc., probably will only use that if its minus 20 out or something but cool feature.

Okay, I'm glad there are others out there who have had similar experiences. I was worried about wiring for a minute there! I actually emailed the guy again and he is going to send me a new module, pre-programmed. Hopefully this alarm thing becomes a thing of the past, because damn it's annoying / embarrassing. Feel bad for my neighbors when it goes off at 0630 in my driveway!

Not the person you replied to, but I have input:
1. Lights stay on. It's an annoying issue without an easy work around. I've gotten used to turning my lights on and off every time I drive it.
2. Other than the light issue, I love the drone mobile I've installed in mine.

Okay, I was wondering if the lights may be a programming issue as well, but I'm guessing it's just the way the Compustar interfaces with the ECU - just doesn't have a setting to turn off the lights without human interference.
And yeah, the Drone Mobile kit has pretty terrible reviews on Amazon, but I think it's mostly due to people installing them incorrectly, or simply not knowing you have to have a Compustar unit in your car to plug it in to! Kinda silly they didn't do that research first.
Cool thing about the Compustar units is the ability to just plug and play stuff like this. I've also got the RPS Touch on mine, and have used it quite a bit. Like I said, very happy with the remote start, but the alarm is getting old!
Thinking about adding the EZ-Go kit on there as well, but I'm not sure I'll actually get much use out of it.

Update: it wasn't a programming issue at all. I was a jackass and used some quick splices on a couple of the wires, because they were so thin I was worried I would simply cut them in half when trying to strip them.
Turns out that was a big mistake, and one of the connections was loose causing the alarm to go off. Resolderd all those connections last night, and now she's good to go! Lesson learned.
Now I get to take it all apart again in a week when my Drone Mobile add on comes in!

Seems to be a lot of stuff on youtube and google, found this:
https://www.pcrichard.com/images/pro...5%20manual.pdf
I didn't require a db3 / additional bypass interface. My installer did the deed with everything in the viper box. Sorry can't be more help on that front.
