5100 Bilstein Shocks on Brand new 2018 T4R?

I just picked up a 2018 T4R and it has less than 300 miles on it.

I'm going with a 2.5in lift in the front and 1.5in Toytec spacer lift in the rear. My dilemma is that I don't know if I should go with 5100 Bilstein shocks in the front or just get complete Toytec spacer lift kit since my shocks are brand new?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I would avoid spacers. You'll get a better ride with the Bilsteins.

Big question is what your main goal is... whether it's a functional lift, or pure aesthetics.

After a few months of thread reading, I'd suggest going Bilstein 6112's up front for a TRD-esque feel but with the ability to "clip up" to give a 2.5" lift.
The rears - see if you like how it looks/feels first. Then decide if you want to raise the rear. I'm not aware of a spacer kit for the rear but to get some lift, you would swap out your springs

I wouldn't recommend spacers but that would be the cheapest route for a 2.5" lift up front.

I just added wheelers springs with 5100s and am very impressed with the increased dampening. I would say just the shock upgrade is very worth it over the stock setup.

I replaced my stock shocks on a 2013 FJ Cruiser TTE and it was night and day difference with the 5100's and I had them set at the top notch. I did use a 1 1/2" spacer in the rear for that vehicle but when I raise my new 4 Runner, it will be with 5100's front and rear, new 3" coil up front and a 2" coil for the rear.

Do 5100 at 2.5'' lift front and a daystar1.5'' and 5100 rear. Rides and handles nice. About $380. Add the SPC UCA's for $400 more.

Man up and go with 6112's or better...I gutted my X-REAS pretty quickly and although I do miss the cornering a bit, everything else is improved.

I did the 5100s all around. I do moderate wheeling. It’s nothing extreme but it’s a more than capable system for your needs. The 6112s are great but sound like overkill for your goals.

I would really add UCAs into your plan if you’re going to 2.5” or greater. You could get away without them but you’re right on the fringe of needing them at that height.

I did a more subtle lift and the ride quality is phenomenal and the capabilities are more than I need at the moment.

Just removed my Bilstein 5100's (1.75" and 1" rear spacer) yesterday after 3-4months. Went back to stock setup, plus a 1" front leveling spacer (0.4" thick). Much smoother ride quality than the Bilsteins, although I'm sure most people will disagree. Also, it's nice to have a proper alignment. Now, I just need to get rid of these 58lb, 10 ply BFG KO2's.

To: OP.

Since your main reason for lift is aesthetics and if you like the stock suspension (ride quality) then I would recommend spacer lift and if 2.5” front and 1.5” is what you are after then go for Daystar kit.

Any top spacer lift (not preload spacer) will not change the feel of the ride and if you go with Daystar it probably will make it slightly better (less vibration harmonics) – because of extra layer of “rubbery” material added between the road and the frame.

This is true, but it'll be hard for him/her to get a proper alignment with 2.5" of lift up front.

Go with the 5100's. I did on my 2017 when I had 1,000kms on it. One of the best mods I've done so far. Basically leveled out the truck (.85 setting) and almost eliminated the nose dive under braking.
