Idk. I hope that others have thought of this but I haven't read anywhere that states one way or not. Thought it was worth asking.

So, why the removed sway bars? The KDSS system does not work well with a lot of wheel travel and lift. The lift burns up the down travel of the piston as it is designed for stock configuration. Also, the fixed side of the sway bar also limits down as well as up travel. For me and the type of wheeling I do, the removal of the sway bar has in fact made a difference. I noticed it on this one trail, I had ran both with and then without, and with the sway bars limiting travel, the truck did not feel stable. When I ran without, the truck felt more planted and went through the section much easier.

So this is part of the answer I have been looking for about lifting a KDSS 4R. When I went into local shops they said if I lift then I will loose KDSS, but I didn't understand. Now I understand.
The other part of my question is how does it feel when you are doing normal street driving? Does removing the sway bar do anything to the street driving?

@ honda250xtitan
is right. The system uses a pair of accumulators that will have about 500psi in them. Meaning anywhere from 500 to as low as maybe 100lbs of force depending on position of the cylinder will always be pushing on it to extend.
I actually don't strap mine up anymore. I just use a jack under it to compress it back when I want to put the sway bar back on after working on it.

This not a true statement. There's plenty of lifted rigs with kdss. Mine's on 5.5" and there's a runner in Colorado with a 6" bracket w/ kdss still operational.

i looked at the ratchet strap and was like wait people actually use this? floor jack and a punch to align the bolt holes and you're golden. The rear i think i used a long clamp to help line it up though. idk. one day i did it one way, the other day another way. it was kinda a biotch, the track bar was hitting the bolt head on the sway bar after we threw the 1.5 lift springs in -_- lol

Bit of a newbie here to the 5th gens and the KDSS system. Picked up a 2010 Trail this weekend with KDSS. The guy I bought it from knew nothing about the lift (It was his son's truck). After checking it all out, it looks to have toytec front coils on billstein shocks, and toytec rear coils on toytec boss rear shocks. Is this lift compromising the use of the KDSS? I have tried to sort this out in the above comments but am still pretty confused about it. Any clarity would be beneficial! Thanks in advance.
Here's my runner:

how is everyone's KDSS lean after the lift? Did one side need a small spacer to fix it?

Mine is a 1/4" higher on the drivers side so I like to think its level when I'm in it. I did the KDSS equalization and that seemed to help.

kings........
I have a KDSS lean but it doesnt bother me at all, nobody will notice it except you. It's like the pimple on your forehead......if you point it out, then the whole world will be staring at it.

No real noticeable lean. Did throw a 10mm OME spacer in on the passenger rear during the install, have not done the KDSS equalization 🤷*♂️

I heard putting in 4 low will disengage kdss and help with lift installation.
Someone with better kdss experience would have to confirm.
