How to: Basic Bi*tch 4runner Mods
January of last year I bought my 2014 Trail. Since then I have literally slowly but surely done most of what I call “The Basic ***** 4runner mods” so I decided to make a list showing fellow noobs how to achieve that basic-Bi*tch-typical white-5th-gen on Instagram look..
1st: Get rid of that silly Silver..Amazon prime you some Plastidip and hit the front and rear Trail bumper things with it. Along with this mod you have to then make one of the most important decisions regarding your 4runner... to either leave the grille divider thing body color or also hit it with the PD to achieve that faux PRO grille look you want so bad but can’t secretly save up almost a grand on the real thing. Oh yeah, then black out that chrome Toyota emblem.
2nd: Get some Trail badges because #WhyDidn’tToyotaGiveMyTrailABadge? So, you guessed it matte them out and spend way too much time installing them to that perfect stock SR5/TRDpro height.
3rd: Replaced the headlights with the Phillips HID kit remember.. #OffRoadUseOnly
4th: Get some yellow Lamin-x fog light covers. #Rally
5th: WHEELS.. VTX, FN, maybe some TRD take offs #eBay? Nope..some people use the good ole PlastiDip on the rims I decided to step it up and use Duplicolor rim paint so go ahead and paint the stock trail rims you guessed it..matte black.
6th: Get you a pair 5100’s shipped to your buddies house because #DontTellTheWife...(secret budget and all) Go ahead and install them but..but this is key..only at the .85 setting. Why!? You ask..Well duh, it’s a secret so you can’t just throw them up to the 2.5 setting right away and expect her not to notice..plus..#Rake
7th: Tires..you know, the rigs got 50k on her and when I went to go get the oil changed the nice man at the dealership told me I need new tires...Let the research and indecisiveness begin. First, you have to spend countless hours looking up what brand you want then comes the size...so go ahead and save the tire figment guide to your home screen on your phone so you can look while you’re pooping. Will the 285’s fit? Maybe you will just go with the BFG’s KO2’s at 275 it’s the perfect size..that no one else makes..Nah, everyone has BFG’s that’s even a little too Basic ***** for me. The 285’s will fit..right? Let me check on Instagram just cut and paste this question to every photo you like the look of “Specs of lift and Tires? any rubbing?” Maybe you’ll make a tread asking? Can’t find a definitive answer anywhere? They say every truck is different..search function? What’s that? Just go ahead and pull the trigger on those big ass tires dude! Just push forward and trim the front fender, take off those silly mud flaps, order the bigger tires and pray to the upper control arm gods you won’t need them! I personally went with 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers in C load because I’m guessing they will be the next KO2 and now I can boast that I’m a #InnovativeBasic*****.
So that’s it! Your complete guide to making your 4runner like mine, basic AF.

Americans are self-loathing, overthinking judgmental scumbags.

Well that escalated quickly. Feel free to leave. But I’m sure we won’t get that lucky.
OP, that was a much better build story than most.

.5ish: Remove the ridiculous running boards that are just a profit gouging add on and sell them on Craigslist to a guy with a short girlfriend. No point in a lift and big trail tires if you're going to leave those damage multipliers on.
