13th Gen Raptor vs. 5th Gen TRD Pro

One of the vehicles I was considering prior to purchasing a 2018 TRD Pro was a 2017 Raptor in crew cab + short bed configuration. Unsurprisingly the Raptor is wider, taller and longer than the T4R. The T4R is a really tight fit in my garage, so the Raptor would definitely not have fit. End of the day, I've been completely happy with the T4R.

Anyways, this post is worthless without pics:

It's the 2095 model year.

Really like both rides--I hadn't appreciated just how much bigger the Raptor is.

I think he means 13th gen F150, Raptor I think is on its 2nd gen.

I wanted a Raptor too, but also glad I ended up in a Toyota.

I had quite a few different model and makes in mind when I went to purchase a vehicle.

I started out looking at Tacoma's and got scared by the new engine/trans, then I moved on to the 4Runner....

While looking at the 4Runner I also looked at the BMW X5 but with all of the fishing I do I figured I wouldn't want to take the X5 off road.

This lead me to the Raptor. I almost bought one but the added cost over MSRP ruined it for me. I also had a Focus RS on order at the time so I tried to bundle both the Raptor and RS together which was a no go.....

Back to the 4Runner it was and I got a decent deal on it. Now I'm back in the OH you want the Porsche GT4. Well MSRP is this and we are only asking 15k over MSRP. No thanks.... even used GT4's are going for more then MSRP in my area.

But yeah I'm happy with the 4runner and had to rant at FORD dealers for asking a premium. I guess someone out there is paying it.

There's a lot to like about the Raptor, but a Freudian analysis would suggest Raptor drivers have confidence/image issues. You're ok with the 4R, nice pick.

A raptor would have fit in my garage, but my wife's car would have to go.

A neighbor of mine has the raptor and he drives it (as well as his 911 & G500) around the neighborhood like he stole it.

He parks it sideways in his driveway so he can block the sidewalk with it.

I never really consider a raptor as they are just too huge for my off-road needs...

kind of like the 4runners i see around town with a snorkel, jerry cans, roof top tent, auxiliary lighting, etc. i assume inside there is a survival pack, snake bite kit and a fire extinguisher fastened with paracord and carabiners. screams image issues........although you can never be too prepared for the applebees parking lot i suppose.

The Raptor is pretty amazing as far as stock trucks go. As a avid desert goer, I would take that over a 5th Gen, it really is in a different league.

They are really apples to oranges comparing them.

I do like how they look and I applaud Ford for giving auto enthusiasts what they want. I looked at them before I bought my Tundra but I kept reminding myself of the crappy experience my 2012 ecoboost f150 was. I think it’s still too early to see if the 2nd gen raptors will be reliable or not. My f150 was completely unreliable by 40k.

Yuppers, still too early to gauge reliability of the 2nd gen Raptor.
Maybe as unreliable as KDSS?

Will be interested to see if the Bronco ends up being offered in a Raptor package.

SVT always puts out impressive vehicles. I drooled over the 1st Lightning when I was a kid.

Whether they're necessary is another issue.
