Kumho road venture AT51
I am looking to buy new tires and have decided to get the Kumho road venture AT 51. I have looked at several threads but cannot find the answer to my question. I'm trying to find out if they are true to size. Looking at Kumhos website they are showing that 265/70/17 are 31.6in in overall diameter but discount tire is showing 32in. Does anybody know what the overall diameter is for these tires? Also if you are running the AT51s what are your experiences with their performance?

Can't comment re size, 3rd gen owner, but as far as tire performance, I would have zero hesitation buying another set. You simple could not beat the price, two years old now, and I have experienced no deficiency in this tire model or brand to date.

I have the AT-51s in 275/70-17 C and have been happy with them so far (6 months, 8,000 miles).
I noticed no change in speedometer accuracy going from 265 Bridgestones to 275 Kumhos, which leads me to believe the tires may possibly run a teensy bit small.
That said, is there a particular reason you're concerned about a 0.4" difference in diameter? I can't see how that would be significant in the real world.

Can’t comment on the true size since I’ve never measured it. In my opinion, the kumho website is probably accurate. I know amazon also advertises it as 32”, so maybe they just estimate and round up.
I have the stock size p rated AT51s, 13,000 currently and still have plenty of tread left. When it comes to performance, they’re great on all conditions and I’ve experienced about all of them. It got me to Alaska from South Carolina without issues and with a load of 800 lbs. Only concern is on iced roads, but that’s a given since it is an AT tire, not a true winter tire.

Thanks for the quick replies. These are going on a 2017 Trail premium with KDSS. I've done quite a bit of reading on the kumhos and so far most of the reviews are positive. TEujunga your right that the 0.4" isn't going to make any difference just curious as I have read about a few different tires running smaller or larger than advertised and want to make sure the wheel well will be filled out. I was thinking about stepping up to the 275/70/17. TEujunga how much change did you see in gas milage. I have a 03 v8 4runner that I plan on using for offloading until the new wears of the 17 I just bought. I haven't done any mods to the new 4runner but do plan on installing new shocks on the front in the future to level the truck out.

I had noticed the same thing about the alrighty smaller size but I find this interesting. According to the Kumho site the 265s are 31.7 and the 275s are 31.6 diameter. I’m not sure what to think about that. I’m also considering the Cooper AT3s in 275, both seem to be very highly recommended

Judd94 your comment is what I'm worried about. Seems like they might have their overall diameter information wrong on the web site. I like the coopers at3 as well as the cooper ATP. The coopers are nice but they are more expensive than the kumhos.

I'm considering getting the same 275's over the KO2's. Do you have a picture of your rig with them on?

I also can’t comment on size but ran AT51s on an older truck of mine and they are a very good cheaper option tire.

I put Kumho AT51's on at 200 miles, just replaced them at ~45,000 miles. I hated them and would urge you to look elsewhere.
Frankly they started just fine, but there's a reason why "Would you recommend?" on Tire Rack reviews is so much lower than other AT tires.
-Impossible to balance, never was able to address a 40-70mph steering wheel wobble
-Flat spots faster than any tire I've owned
-Extremely loud after 20k miles
-And most importantly: after ~15k miles, they were dangerously bad on wet roads. It was like driving on wet leaves, there was almost zero lateral grip. The rear would suddenly break traction at extremely low speeds, and it was impossible to get a feel for the tire's limits because it was so low.
I'm not making a recommendation because I only have a few hundred miles on my new tires (Cooper AT3). But it's night-and-day better so far and I suspect the AT51 is just a bad tire.

35k miles, like 'em just fine
I put a set of AT 51s on my 2018 4Runner in the first 500 miles of ownership and now have over 35k miles on the clock. They work just fine, no complaints. Not the most aggressive AT tires by any means, but reasonable road noise is the tradeoff. I chose these over the Coopers and BFG TA KO2s based on them featuring the "mountain and snowflake" symbol for winter use. They are good in the snow, but not as good as a true snow tire. Again, a tradeoff; this one for year-round use. The price is also good on these.
