Can you get a shot straight on from side of vehicle? What size tires are those? Looks good.

I can now. But I'll confirm fit when they arrive. I have a 25 pack of 3/4" long button screws and nut inserts enroute for about $22 with shipping. Not stainless, but I expect to get some stainless screws locally in any other needed lengths. There are less expensive plate inserts listed below in this link, but I would worry about how strong they would be as tie down bases.

This is a nice looking rack and love that there is no drilling involved. Posting for hopes of a group buy.

They fit. I'll be getting a small metal ruler and taking careful measurements to avoid bottoming the screws in the slots. These are 1/4x20 threaded pieces that were in the earlier link. They also make some that will take #10 screws. I can now mount my ARB awning using the Rhino Rack mounts I ordered a few weeks ago. But since they only take 1/4x20 screws at a maximum without drilling I'll probably order another pair of awning mounts to spread the load.

I got my last available crossbar and the Rhino Rack awning mounts installed today (1 crossbar was backordered). The 3/4" screws I got with the kit were too long so I currently have them spaced out with washers. It's looks like 1/2 long screws will cover most applications for anchors if using nut inserts, but studs are also an option. I have a set of Chevy small block valve cover studs on the way. I plan to red Loc-tite those in some of the nuts and see how well that holds up. I also have some 2" Jeep/military style tie down loops coming and will mount them at diagonals across the slots on the crossbars. These should work well for cinch strap tie downs. Will post more pictures as I use more options. I also plan to get another 2 crossbars to fill out all locations in the future.

Once I've settled on everything I will be blue Loc-titing all the crossbar screws into the sides, just to keep them from coming loose under vibration. I found a few loose ones today but it is possible I didn't cinch them down during the initial installation. I don't want to over tighten them because they are threading into aluminum, and of course allen heads strip easily.

The Rhino Rack awning mounts look like a winner. I have 1 pair installed and another pair on the way. I have an ARB 2500 to hang and they recommend 3 anchor points. Since they are sold in pairs for a reasonable $55 I expect to use all 4. They can be mounted as high or low mounts so you can vary the height from the ground for your awning base. I'm opting for the lower mount but will use the upper hole positions to keep my 6' self some headroom.

With the 1020 cross bar mounted in angle, do you have whistling noise?

Cheers

I haven't noticed any more or less wind noise than I was getting with the Baja Rack. With the angle I don't think it would matter if you were running the 2 or 3" wide on back there. I have seen a marginal increase in MPG (15-20 miles more per tank at the 60 mph I normally average)

I did receive the extra crossbar I ordered (for a total of 9). I will eventually get 2 more to fill in all the holes. AND I realized last night that I have to remove the awning to install any extra crossbars, so the extra one I currently have may wait for the other 2 to show up. But removing the Rhino Rack mounts is easy with 2 people holding the awning up, and they won't change position.

For anyone who might be interested in these mounts I initially installed all 4 mounts to the vehicle, then all 4 upper nuts for the awning while on the vehicle, then removed the whole thing and installed the lower nuts on the awning before hanging it back up. Once I got 2 screws started on the mounts I was able to let the wife go and finish the other 6 alone.

Prinsu also makes these mounts and I almost ordered some before I found the Rhino Rack mounts. But these will only fit 2" wide crossbars, so you would need to order that size if you want these.

Is a 40" curved light bar even an option in front? That and the silver accent are the only things keeping me from trading in my Gobi for this. Looks like it would work better with my Yakima skybox in the winter for ski trips.
