You can get the cross bars in black according to the SSO website.

Yep, but the silver Hardware is still standard I believe, as their logo. Nothing Plasti Dip couldn't fix. The light bars the real challenge

Nice looking rack however, I have concerns with racks that are bolted together. On rough roads there is a lot of stress on a rack and I have seen bolts work loose even with red loctite on them. The constant jarring and vibration over 30 miles of rocks and washboard can wreak havoc on erector sets. Now if it was a welded rack,,, . Just my $.02

I get what you're saying, but with proper torquing and red Loctite it shouldn't be an issue. I mean our vehicles are bolted together and they don't fall apart over the roughest conditions. Plus every rack bolts to the truck anyway.

I almost never use red loctite on this size screw. You will almost never get it apart unless you use heat. I would use a locking washer so it applies some tension on the threads and you should be fine.

Our car has tons of just regular nuts a bolts that dont fall off over 10-20 years if never touched.

This rack looks great and I love the “no drill” solution. I’ve been looking at this rack for a month for my rooftop tent. After seeing this thread I think I’m gonna pull the trigger. Thanks for posting this. Southern Style Offroad Full Length Roof Rack

Stainless hardware yes. Easily swapped out with carbon steel at your local hardware store, find some black chrome ones, or black out the heads yourself (1/4 x 20 x 3/4"). The logo plates are installed with 1/8" aluminum rivets. My 1st run one came with 2 right side plates in it and one of those was upside down. SSO acknowledged there were some issues with the first runs and sent me corrected plates and rivets. 10 minutes to replace both if you want to remove and paint them.

I do plan to blue Loc-tite all fasteners once I'm done installing stuff. Until then I'll be checking them weekly until I'm satisfied they aren't coming loose.

And there should be plenty of room for a 40" light bar. The side rails are slightly less than 47" inside to inside, and the top flat on the fairing is 1.5" wide all the way across.

For all interested parties, there's going to be a tax day sale starting next week that gives 15% off the SSO all aluminum roof racks.

Like @3wbdriver mentioned, we have been working closely with our customers from the first batch of racks to ensure that the product was on par with their expectations. We have identified and corrected a few things that are all now standard features on all current units.

We've also developed a line of accessories specifcally for our racks that will continue to grow every month. We've got a set of 40" light bar brackets in testing phase now that should make it to the website in March, as well. A flush mounted light bar in the wind fairing is also in development.

Please dont hesitate to ask us any questions here or through email/ live chat on our website.

So glad I didn't pull the trigger on this last week guess I will be waiting a few more days before I order.

Love this rack. I installed it by myself in about 2 hours start to finish. Going to order the extra crossbars and when they get put on then I will blue loctite all of them.
Small change in wind noise, not louder, but seems to push more air into the cabin when sunroof is fully retracted. Bonus for me. .

And does this mount directly to factory holes?
