Help w/ Heise light bar and sPOD

Okay, just installed my SSO slimline bumper, winch, and Heise 30in light bar. All went on smooth, no install issues.....except...

My light bar has a glass fuse running in line of the red wire. I've watched several videos and all said to remove the stock light bar relay, as the sPOD works as the relay. So, I cut it off, and simply ran red to the power on my sPOD, and black to the GRND on my sPOD. I'm using a 30 amp fuse (green), as that's what was in the factory light bar relay.

Everytime I turn on the switch on my sPOD that corresponds to the light bar,the glass inline fuse pops. Not the fuse on the sPOD, just the glass fuse that's inline on the red wire.

FWIW, the inline glass fuse is labeled F3A/250V, and I bought more "3A" fuses from autozone after popping the first one.

It's driving me nuts, this is the first time I've installed anything electric related aside from the sPOD and I am stuck.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
-Chris

Cut off the glass fuse from the light bar cable.. extend the cable from the light bar to the spod. Hit the switch on the spod and... VOILA!!! Problem solved. The spod has fuses on the circuit board to prevent you from blowing out your light bar.

That's what I've been thinking after watching a few more videos on-line. I'll try this tomorrow and report back w/ the results. It's funny how easy it seems once you get to it and start cutting/wiring stuff.

Thanks again,
-Chris

Dood that light bar has 60 x 3w LEDs, for a total of 180w. 180w @ 12v is 15A.

No wonder that 3a fuse keeps popping.

What gauge is the wiring for that light bar? I wonder if they gave you the wrong wiring harness.

It looks like standard 16G wire, and the harness they sent plugged right into the received coming from the light. Based on that math, you think I'll have a problem eliminating the in line fuse and going straight to the sPOD?

Eliminating the in line fuse will lead you open to frying the lights in the event of a surge or short. Also, 16 ga stranded wire is not rated to handle 15a of current. You should be using 14 ga at least

OP you have the wrong harness. You need 14 ga. minimum, I would use 12 or 10. Make sure it is fuse-protected. I would use a 25 or 30a fuse.

Thank you, just went back and looked. Though the factory light bar plug doesn't indicate the size of the red/black wire, it's clearly larger than the wire I added to reach the sPOD.

However, I did remove the inline fuse, and that solved the lighting issue, though I am now going to get larger gauge wire so I don't make a big mistake.

The sPOD has a fuse, isn't that now fuse protected? I guess I'm confused I have seen everyone online and on the sPOD YT channel go straight from device to sPOD.

I do know I need a 30amp fuse for the light bar, and I do have that, but I'm going to correct my wiring now.
