Rough Alum Casting on front of 4R Engine head/block?
Out looking at a few new 4runners yesterday, looked under hood at 3/4 vehicles and noticed that one of the engines had a very rough surface on the aluminum head/block. This was the front of the engine right behind the radiators. Surface was spikey, lots of raised edges as opposed the smooth and polished surface on all the others. Must be some sort of casting defect, am wondering if the outside is messed up could there be a prob on the inside. Dealership says some are like that but it seems unusual, anyone else seen this, maybe on your own an 4R ?
