Hey everyone, just wanted to address some of the concerns in this thread.
We have changed the top mounting plate that attaches to the hatch to 14ga steel instead of 11ga (much thinner steal).
We have also changed the mounting tape to a thinner more adhesive tape. This has helped the top plate sit down a little farther and hook onto the top edge of the hatch much better.
The thinner steal paired with the thinner more sticky mounting tape has resolved any rubbing or scraping issues.
Also we put together and new install video which goes much more in depth with the assembly of the ladder and how to properly install it onto the 4runner.
We have sold at least 50 ladders since those changes were made and there have been zero fitment issues or customer complaints.
Here is a link to the new install video:

If any of you guys are having rubbing issues with your current ladder mounting plate let us know and we will send you a new plate made from the thinner material and some of the new mounting tape. That coupled with watching the install video should resolve any issues you may be having.
We apologize for the problems some of you have dealt with, but we are positive they have all been resolved now!
