i'm pretty sure gadget knew there would be a delay.. I asked if i could schedule a install with my installer. He said to wait until it ships..
I'm one of the first people to order.

How is this kit stacking up to the Magnuson one? Anything this includes that the other one does not?
Is this kit directly plug and play? No other parts needed? Larger Injectors/Fuel pumps. ECUs etc etc.?

Very interested to start seeing some real world feedback on this kit.
On paper it is certainly more appealing than the Magnuson kit...

Gadget says this is supposed to be a complete kit, only need shop supplies, RightStuff Gasket Maker, LockTite, and coolant.
Included: UCON-EMS ECU Auto-tune box (plugs in between main harness and OEM ECU), Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, pulleys, belt, spark plugs, intake tube, clamps, etc.
Still waiting on my shipment info, but I was a few down the list in line of orders.

I think I missed it in my skim-reading, but does this kit require a higher octane fuel like the Magnuson Kit?

I asked about this because down near my folks 93 is not common. Gadget said it will require the highest octane available. When asked about 90 octane 100% gas vs 91 octane 10% ethanol he restated "highest octane available" Thinking I might just keep a couple bottles of octane booster in the truck for when I'm out in the country.
Ethanol
Just found this in the installation manual for the FJ:

Run two full tanks of high-octane fuel in the truck before installing the supercharger system.

Any FI for this motor is going to require the highest octane you can find. 105 would be about ideal, but they will survive on 91. The static compression is simply too high for anything else. The motor really wants 91 NA and a few lbs of boost and it is really wanting it.
As far as running lower octane goes... just stay out of it when you can't run 93 and pay attention to heat soak. All these top mounted units with heat exchangers suffer from it to some extent. You will have plenty of power on tap without beating the crap out of it.. To put it in perspective... keep the torque output to near stock levels with your foot and the octane requirements should not change much at all. More power.. more dynamic compression + higher intake temps and therefore more octane required to eliminate detonation.
I have no idea how the knock sensing works with the piggyback, I would ask about that as it is very important. I assume they adjust off the base and that is the reason for his recommendation to run 2 tanks of high octane before install. The ECU will learn the fuel and has knock learn. People argue with me that it does not learn and do any better with high octane, but I've observed it and disagree completely.
Each motor is a little different too. Some just like to knock from carbon build up and oil in the PCV line. I highly recommend a catch can and a good cleaning of the runners and ports during the install. It's pretty easy while you are in there.. just takes time and a little patience.

Anyone heard any information on expected fuel mileage once we complete this install? Obviously it's leadfoot dependent, but it would be nice to have some idea.

URD Supercharger installed
I finished the install of my supercharger last Friday. The install went mostly well. The install manual is easy to follow. I did have an issue with the UCON, but URD took care of it very quickly. I'm very happy with the quick communication and help I received from Gadget at URD.
A few quick comments on the install.
1. I used the Schley crank holder to remove and install the crank bolt. It made the job very easy and saved a lot of money compared to the Toyota tool. The only problem was the bolts that came with the tool were not long enough to go through the new overlay pulley and existing pulley combined. I had to buy 1" longer bolts.
2. There is a set of steel coolant lines that run to the oil cooler. They have to be removed to make room for the added pulley system. The manual states and I highly recommend that if you don't ever expect to put them back on (if you decide to remove the supercharger), then cut them up to get them off. I decided to keep them intact. Since I was not familiar with removing them, it added about 2 hours to my install time.
3. Make sure you drill the hole for the hose that runs to the intercooler water pump before installing the pump.
4. I installed the fuel pump a week prior to starting the supercharger install. I drove it all week just to be sure there was no issue with it. I did drop and fully remove the tank from the truck to do the install. The ring holding the tank/pump assembly in is a pain in the ass to remove if you don't have the tool made for it. I carefully hammered it loose using a very large screwdriver and rubber mallet. It seemed to work well but took some time. I also read you can use a large strap clamp, but I couldn't find one locally and heard that they don't always work. Overall, for the first time doing a pump install, it took me about 4 hours working slowly.
I have put around 150 miles on it. So far, I am very happy with it. Unfortunately its been mid 90's and high humidity here in NY for the past 6 days, so I have not been pushing it too much. The power increase is noticeable through the entire RPM range, of course less at lower RPM. I did do a couple 0-60 passes on it today. It did 6.1 and 6.2 seconds. I imagine it will do slightly better once the UCON computer is fully trained. I didn't do a pre-install 0-60 test, but there are some videos on youtube showing times between 7.5 and 10.6 seconds for stock to slightly modded 4runners.
I'm currently running on 91 octane gas. The closest 93 octane is around 10 miles out of my way, but I plan on trying it on my next fill up. I have not noticed any issue with the 91.
Gas mileage at this point is hard to tell, but it seems to be about a 1.5 mpg loss. I was at 18.9 average and am currently showing 17.4. I do most of my driving on 55mph roads. Very little city driving. Lot's of hilly roads. I'll give an update on this when I have gone through a few tanks of gas.
That's about it for now. If you have any questions, fire away.

Any updates from those who bought the URD? Saw a Wrangler today with a Whipple on it and reminded me of how much I want one of these.

Why did you go with the URD opposed to the Magnuson?

The whipple will have a lot more power and tuning potential over the Magnusson TVS. The downside is more modifications and potential for reliability issues. The Mag is the SC Toyota was planning to release and warranty, before they lost the last bit of their enthusiast spirit.
