Any news on the dwarves? Is the sound really not noticeable from the cabin, or do you just choose to block it out?

I'm currently debating which SC system to get, and would love to get some more feedback from the URD users.

MORE UPDATES PLEASE!

Thanks!

my supercharger developed a leak, Gadget at URD was great and got me a rebuilt unit. He really took care of me on this.

But bad news is that the UCon-EMS engine management that comes with the URD interferes with how NYS does OBD2 vehicle inspections. Driving my 4runner around with a expired inspection.. until a fix is out. hopefully there will be one.

My Maestro-RR for the head unit has an option to force OBD-II to always enabled so that both it and the UCon-EMS are both usable. Maybe they can try that for their inspection.

I have the maestro-rr since way when they first released their first product as a beta tester. Well aware of what it can and cannot do.

Gadget over at URD is aware of the issue and it has something to do with the way the signal is modified over the canbus.

I am debating Magnuson vs URD whipple.

I want to read up more on how people are doing with the URD...

I read this whole thread, i definitely know more now than i did before i read it..

Seems like not a lot of people have the URD sc..

I live near Chicago Illinois in NW Indiana and would only do a sc if i had a really good shop for installs and tuning out and fixing bugs that would come later..

Someone told me to call Chicago 4 x 4 i am still trying to reach them..

Definitely would love to find a good install shop that can also custom dyno tune...

I would even be willing to take my 4runner all the way to see Gadget in Maryland so they can do the install and a "possible" custom dyno tune but when i was picking his brain over the phone the other week it seemed like he was not really interested to do install at his shop nor dyno tunes.. so that kinda leaves me hanging..

Like where would i go if i had a problem..

The problem with after market mods and stuff is having a reliable shop around when you need them..

What are the best shops in the US for our Toyota truck mods??

The whipple setup is pretty much self tuning. There are probably some parameters that can be adjusted with the piggyback ecu. But for the most part i think it tunes itself. I think any shop that does custom dyno tuning will be able to access the piggyback and get it done.

The whipple itself has some custom parts on it from URD but also can be fixed by any competent mechanic that has ever disassembled a whipple.

Gadget stands by his product. I can tell you that much. He took care of shipping both ways on my supercharger when he swapped it out for me. This is on a 2 year old URD supercharger.

Just curious if OBD2 emissions is still an issue with the UCON EMS? I read earlier in the thread that there was an issue with OBD readiness monitors, but not sure if UCON did any updates to fix the issue.

Considering adding a supercharger later this year, but since we have emissions testing in Colorado, that itself would be a deal breaker for the URD.

i think it was just the NYS emissions test that had a issue. They give you a little patch or teach you how to make one for emissions test. Plug into usb everytime you do the Emissions test.

Thanks for the info.

I am not sure how the NYS emissions works, but they do a full OBD2 check here in colorado and sometimes also smog you on the dyno. So with that USB device it will pass obd2 emissions with no issues?

Update. It appears having the external fuel pump relay triggered by the fuel ECU was draining my battery. The original battery gave up the ghost about 4 months after the install and the new battery was starting to struggle. ( fluid around top of battery, slow turnover etc.).

The supercharger has a pump which circulates coolant through a inter-cooler/radiator and it is triggered through the ignition. I daisy chained the fuel pump relay behind the coolant pump relay. Everything starts to run when the ignition key is first turned on. The fuel pump no longer randomly runs when there is no one in the car.

In other news, I took a video of the worst knocking from the supercharger. I’ll have to have someone guide me with getting it posted to the tube. In my case it happens in Drive while at a full stop while the engine is warming up. It appears to be caused by the V6 pulsing the supercharger gears. The only other noise comes from the fuel filter where the volume of fuel through it causes it it whistle. Only noticeable at a stop when the windows are down.

It appears we have switched to winter gas as I have dropped my ave MPG down to 19.8 from 20. Having said that. My gosh this thing is SWEET!
