Toyota Tire/Wheel Protection Package
I have the platinum package(If my tire blows out or anything, it's replaced for free). It's a great package, and have used it.
I've confirmed that I don't need to buy the tires directly from Toyota, but the tires have to be within manufacture specs to be covered. I have a Limited, so my specs are for 20" rims. I'm switching to a 17x8" rim with 285/70/17 tires.
Anyone know what the range for tire sizes are to be considered, "manufacture specs", or have any experience dealing with this? They wouldn't tell me over the phone for some reason.
The shop doing my lift is willing to beat their price, but has no warranty. Discount tire won't match the price.
Thanks

Honestly, I have no idea. But all 5th gen non-limited 4runners come with 265/70R17. I'm more commenting because I'm honestly surprised Discount Tire won't price match. One of their main selling points is that they won't be beat on price for tires and I've had them price match before.

Toyota is running their buy 3, get 1 free sale, so I can get 4 KO2s mounted for $1050 plus tax.
Maybe I'll call a different store. I did just find out these are the E rated tires though. They don't sell the load below that. E rated tires are a little heavy for what I need.

If the tires are a different size then on your Monroney label they might not cover it. Have someone at the dealership sign off on whatever they are telling you. I work in service and anyone that has that plan and gets anything other than what is suppose to be on the car voids the tire/wheel package. If you put on aftermarket wheels how is Toyota suppose to cover them if you curb them or something? Your store might do it different though.

Well, I talked to the dealership and he said that there should be some wiggle room. Told him I'd need someone to sign off on it ensuring that.
Either way, I just called a different Discount Tire in town, and he quoted me less than Toyota, for the C rated tires, so I'll just get the extra warranty there and be done with it, that way I'm covered, and cancel my tire protection, and get credit.

That's the best way to go man. I've seen people get ****ed around left n right which sucks cus a sales person will tell you anything you wanna hear. Discount tires plan is really good when it comes to coverege

Which rims are you getting? Make sure they are hub centric and the hub bore size is for a Toyota. You don’t want to deal with vibrations or using a hub ring.

They're not all great, I suppose, but my personal experience and satisfaction with DT is so good that I just don't go anywhere else. Check around for prices maybe? Sure. You do need to be informed.

Discount Tire has always taken really good care of me. But Tire Rack and a few others will price match if it comes down to that.
