Installed my C4 a few days ago. I echo that Caleb and team were great. I had some fitment issues and a slightly bent pass swing arm from shipping..fairly minor. They can't figure out the fitment issues without seeing it of course, but i did some re-mounting and got it better. Not perfect but workable. I may have a friend re-weld the pass swing arm and add a gusset near the hinge. Right now I believe it to be my frame, not the bumper....and a minor re-weld may be able to compensate for an uneven frame. When I say uneven, its got to be like an 1/8" off...not huge but its making the latch of the swing arm miss the center of the catch by about a 1/4".

All in all I still love it. Its got some very well thought out bracing and support pieces. This is my third after market rear bumper, and 6th install of a rear bumper on a 5th gen...and none have as many supports as C4's!!

I plan on some testing at Johnson Valley for KOH. Then maybe another high speed trip to Baja. Thanks again C4!
Looks Great! We'll have to get together and get some "twinner" pics. Sorry to hear about your fitment issues

I didn't do the work myself. I had Hi Country 4x4 here in Denver do it. I had a lot of other work done at the same time so I couldn't have it down for that long.
Hi Country took three days to do the following: Rear Bumper Install, Wiring for a new SPOD, new reverse Baja Lights in the bumper, Re wire my exsisting fogs and light bar to the SPOD, Wire the back up camera, All new suspension including UCA's and alignment, Mount tire on new rim and various small tasks. They did a great job on everything. I'll post more pics separately of the whole job.

I somehow got shipped the RotopaX mount instead of the Jerry Can carrier but Caleb had it shipped overnight same day he found out. I'm waiting on that to get back from powder coat and will get some updated pictures then. I'll do a more in depth review in a few weeks after I test it out some more.
Glad you love your bumper so far, it looks great! High Country did a good job on the install.
The only thing im seeing is that the hitch isn't installed correctly. Not sure if that was done on purpose for some reason, but it needs to spin 180 degrees so it can be attached at all 6 bolt hole locations. Right now its only using the 4 holes on the back of the frame, it should be bolted to the two holes in the bottom of the frame as well.

Thanks for the honest review! Sorry about the adjustment issues with the gates. We have been digging into that this week and we've got some slight changes to make in our assembly process that should eliminate that from happening again.

So i had help from a friend and installed the bumper and swingouts in my driveway in about 4-5 hours. Then I messed with it again a day later on my own for another hour adjusting it.

Another 2-3 hours installing the table, camera (already re-wired it before the bumper arrived), connecting my BD back up lights, wiring the license plate light.

I think all in 8-9-ish hours is a good estimate. There are lots of little bits and pieces too depending on which version you get (dual swings or single swing, latches, rubber bumpers, small plates, struts, etc.)

That is great customer service C4, thank you again for all your help and time, even on Christmas! It means a lot that you guys are looking into it, rather than just assuming "user error."

If anyone is on the fence about this bumper, don't be! Go for it! C4 has been great to work with from beginning to end and then some. That's been refreshing after what some of us went through with another vendor.

Happy New Year C4 and team! Keep making great products and supporting this community!

Ok great, glad you got it fixed. We would hate to have the hitch fail because it wasn't attached properly!

C4 Single Swing Arm:

I installed my C4 Single Swing Rear Bumper a couple weekends ago and could not be more pleased.

Caleb and the C4 crew have been fantastic to work with and have answered every question quickly and with a bent toward great customer service. A couple notes on the quality of the bumper, The materials, the design, the compound bends, the welding, the fit and finish are outstanding. The company here in OKC that applied my powder coat remarked as well as to how well she is constructed. It is a fabricating work of art.

I attached her to my 4Runner by myself (I did have a buddy come by for about ten minutes to help me get the bumper off the ground and resting on the rear sub-frame...but that was all the help I had or needed). The most challenging part was the tweaks and adjustments to ensure the gaps and reveals were the same side to side. Take your time, follow the instructions on the video and it will all come together well. Rewiring and relocating the rearview camera was as challenging as the bumper itself...but that is on Toyota.

I will try and post some pics down the road--the wife and I are heading to Big Bend Ranch State Park next week if the weather permits.

Thanks, Caleb (and crew). You should be proud of the work you are turning out. Your products are top-of-the-line and your customer support is as well.

Has anyone done the back up camera relocation. Is it fairly straightforward? Also, how is the field of vision with the tire and swing outs nearby. Do you lose any of the wide angle?

Yes, its not difficult, but just a pain with how much we have to disassemble in the hatch in comparison to a Taco. Camera location by C4 is great and the field of vision is good in my opinion.

Not to steer you to a competitor, but there are instructions to relocate the camera on SSO's website...with diagrams for the disassembly. Its fairly straight-forward...just make sure your new camera wire extension clears the back glass inside the hatch...or your rear window won't open all the way.

I keep lurking in this thread... patiently waiting for my shipping notice. I'm thinking it should be pretty soon since I ordered late Nov-early Dec. I finally found a spare Trail wheel, so now I just need to get a new 255 mounted on it.

does anyone have a video, or a "how to" for the jerry can straps? i'm not entirely sure how the straps are supposed to be routed through the buckles and the clip. if that makes any sense.
