Auto Headlight setting and Drop In HID Kit...

I installed a Retrofit source HID kit and I’ve noticed when I start the 4Runner (mostly on the morning drive to work) if the headlight switch is in auto only one build ignites. It is always the pass side light that won’t light.

I’ve contacted TRS and they said just don’t use auto setting. Auto Headlight setting and Drop In HID Kit...

Anyhow, just wondering if this is a common problem.

Does their suggestion work? If yes, take it. Move on. You've done something non-standard to your car - you can't expect standard behavior.

Hopefully, you still have the faculties required to turn headlights on/off.

Are you using a relay harness, or just straight ballasts?

I have the morimoto hid kit for retrofit as well and I have the same problem in my 2019. If they lights are set to on when I turn on the car the passenger light will not turn on. If I set them to off or something else they would both turn on when I switch them on. Were you able to find any fix for this? Also, I am not using the relay just the ballasts on each side.

I had the exact same issue. Passenger side would fail to start in auto setting but I could turn the lights off and back on and it would come on every time. I have the Xenon Depot Extreme HID kit in mine no relays, just running on the stock wires.
I talked to XD and they advised swapping side to side. Through the process of elimination I narrowed it down to the bulb. They sent me a new Phillips 4300k bulb and it has worked fine since (7months).
