Wiper Control Stalk - Won't "Auto Return" Wiper in "Off" Position?

2013 T4R SR5.

The past 6 months or so, my Wiper Control Stalk has not allowed the front wipers to return to their resting position if placed in the "Off" position during a wipe. The wipers will halt wherever they are at in the wipe cycle when the stalk is moved to the "Off" position.

I can lightly jiggle the wiper stalk and they will return, or move it to "Intermittent" setting and let them return and then move the stalk back to "Off".

I'm sure there is a contact at the "Off" stalk resting position that is cracked or otherwise just not making contact unless nudged...

Any ideas on if this is repairable, or should I just dish out for a new stalk before I waste my time troubleshooting?

Thanks!

Does it return to home if you use the momentary feature or have you tried that?

Thanks for the reply - 3wbdriver.

The momentary function has the same issue (and is actually the most aggravating)

So the issue appears to lie in the "OFF" position - likely a cracked or faulty contact at that position. If I manually nudge/tweak the wiper stalk while in the "OFF" position, the wipers do return to their resting position after wiping from any method (Momentary/Intermittent/Low/High and even when using the sprayer from the "Off" position).

I don't have a lot of free time these days, so I'm not looking to troubleshoot too intensely if I'll just need to replace the stalk in the end. I'll round up a few stalk prices and go from there unless anyone thinks this could be fixed rather easily.

So I assume no one here has ever had this particular issue?

Toodles

I had a similar problem before, not on my 4Runner (was a Toyota though), the issue was the wiper motor, not the stalk. Yours might be different though if a jiggle of the stalk gets it to return correctly.
