2nd Clip Bilstein 5100 with Toytec HD coils?

Hey now,

I was wondering if anyone out here in T4R land is running their front 5100's at the second clip (from bottom) while also running Toytec HD coils (620 lbs)?? I am also running a polyurethane 3/8" & 1/2" set of top plate spacers as well.

Right now I am set at the recomended very bottom setting for the 5100's and even with the spacers, I am not happy about the rake. In the rear, I have Toytect SuperFlex 2" lift coils & I feel like moving the front 5100's up to the second clip would even it out a little more to my liking. I just don't know if this will in fact ruin the front shocks...

Thanks!!

It's not recommended but technically you can.

FWIW, I'm running 700# King springs at the third notch up on my 6112's on my 4th gen. Still rides and drives great but I am also running a heavy steel bumper and winch.

Was the recomendation also riding on the very bottom clip for the 6112's after the King coils were installed?

I felt like the lift I had with solely the 5100's set at the top clip was higher than the coils/spacers + 500's at bottom clip (even though measurments are about the same from ground to fender with both lift types). I don't care about ride being too rough or anything like that - I came from a lifted Jeep TJ & this 4Runner world is night and day. I just don't really want to break the shocks at the second clip while at flex off road.

Bilstein actually recommended against swapping in the King coils. They stated the coils they send with the 6112's (600#) are more than enough for a bumper/winch combo. Well, they we're not up to the task realistically so I said F'it and swapped in the Kings. The Kings have been on for over a year with quite a few off road outings and everything seems to be working together great. As long as that clip is fully seated, you shouldn't have an issue.

I wonder why the recomendation against anything but the bottom clip though? Is it because of ride quality being rough, or is it due to the fear that the shock will overextend during a full flex & damage itself?
