4x4 Pre-Cleaners
I got this (TJM Ram Head Cover. Suits over windscreen style) in the mail and it does not fit the 4runner snorkel. It must be for something much bigger as it is twice the diameter. I don't think I got the wrong filter by mistake, but its way off. Don't go down this path.

Question Extended Intermediate Pipe Inside the Cabin

Has anyone just used a intermediate pipe and extended it to the inside of their 4Runner? That way you wouldn’t have a external tube to look at or get whacked off on the trail. Another benefit would be cool cabin clean air entering your engine (a real tricked out CAI).

For those that didn't drill into the pillar for the install, could you share how you attached the bracket or snorkel?

Thinking about using industrial velcro. I still haven't purchased the snorkel yet, but my intake is basically wide open now after the last batch of trimming so I need to move on one soon.

A lot of guys use 3M mounting tape of various types. 3M has a moulding tape you can buy from pretty much any auto parts store. Some guys use a two step 3M product with good success. It depends on where you live and the conditions you’ll expose you’re rig to. I wasn’t comfortable with tape holding my snorkel (different brand) so I drilled. Scary at first but take your time. It was worth doing it right the first time for me.

Thanks

I'm really just concerned with longevity with storms here, in NV, and the sierras in between.

I've already drilled a ton of holes in this thing so I don't mind, just wondering if anyone has good results with the 3M VHB or industrial velcro for Snorkel application. I couldn't find much here, on MUD, TW, etc. Seems as though everyone drills into the pillar.

I love it. It fits like a glove and looks clean. I do a lot of desert driving and it keeps my air filter clean. I never found any water in my airbox, but I do find a lot of bugs, butterflies and dragon flies.

Did you completely seal your airbox ??? I mean you sealed up the water drainage holes in the bottom of the air box ???

No, I'm sure water comes in from rain and splash, so I left the drains. I think you would have to linger in the high water for way longer than I would be comfortable with for the drains to be an issue.

Man I should have bought it else where or pick it up straight from the manufacturer...

If your reading this ... And live in Cali just go straight to TJM and order direct. Most of these seller drop ship anyway.

Don't let these internet sellers waste your time...

I am absolutely in love with this snorkel compared to "SAFARI" slapped all down the side like a ridiculous advert!

I have read this whole thread and think this is a VAST improvement over the leech look but the head causes concerns as it actually seems to cup the water splashing up the windshield RIGHT INTO THE INTAKE TUBING?!?! And on top of that the dual openings are far larger than a traditional style thus allowing even more water exposure.

Can someone please explain how that DOESNT occur or is puddle splashing just off the menu?

It'd be nice if they made interchangeable heads. FTIW

I know water enters the snorkel, and it definitely gets caked with snow. (Cold air intake) My friend has a Safari just spins his snorkel head around to prevent this. I made a sock out of filter foam to go over the head, but I never use it as the snow doesn't seem to affect anything. When I stop, I brush it off.
The connector tube that runs along the inside of the fender joins with the stock air-box. If you never have removed the air-box, it has a tongue that sticks out at the bottom of the tube that goes thru the fender and as far as I can tell this helps keep the water out of the air-box. When I first got the snorkel I was freaked out about the water thing, but like I said the air-box stays dry.
