Whiteline front differential bushing installation
This weekend I finally put my new front diff mount bushings in and took some pics along the way so I figured I would contribute to the community a little. The bushings are available from whiteline performance, the part number used was W93385 and are about $100 online with a limited lifetime warranty.
The skid plates need to be removed then you need a jack and block of wood, 19mm socket or wrench, 7/8 socket or wrench, chisel or pry bar and hammer and a press of some sort will remove it the fastest. I removed the arms one at a time and used the chisel to bend the bushing cups lip up around the circumference to alleviate the cup from not wanting to get pressed out. Then took the arm to my 20k press and pressed it out via the center bushing without the use of heat or lubricant. My bushings were currently at 119k miles and we’re likely good for a while more but the price was reasonable for poly type bushings. The new bushings come with a lubricant so give them a light coating of the included grease and the sleeves that get assembled into the bushing then proceed to install them into the mounts otherwise you will be fighting to install the sleeve into the poly bushing and potentially deform it. Then reassemble onto the rig and remove the others while the jack and wood block stabilizes the diff.
The aft mount used a hex bolt and a couple 17mm bolts to remove it then remove the old bushings and the new is a two piece design with a inner crush sleeve.
