Switch Pros horizontal mounting of the power module

They specifically say you should not mount the power module laying flat (face up) and it should be mounted vertically to allow water to run off. Most I've seen are mounted flat due to space limitations and various power/accessory trays being setup for that style of mount. I mounted mine flat on my overland equipped SPOD tray.

That said, has anyone had their SP unit die on them due to water? I will not be fording streams that go up over the hood or anything like that.

Bump

Just received my Power Tray and my Switch Pros. Should I be concerned that the first instructions for the Switch Pros says to ONLY mount it vertically or it may void the warranty. Then it says using a terminal block IS NOT RECOMMENDED due to water?

I would say yes to be concerned. There are others reporting issues on the horizontal mounting things too. This is what I am in the process of installing.

Link: Switch Pro 9100 Vertical Mounting Solution

Just wondering if you guys got the Switch-Pros power module installed and what you did. Did you see this thread where it was discussed and introduced a vertical mounting solution for it ? Its become available. (To be transparent it's my thread, but while researching this stuff, I came across this thread and wanted people to know that there are options).

I think that Switch-Pros not recommending the terminal block because water can sit there too, but what are you going to do ? Replace a several hundred dollar power module or a $15 terminal block ? I do not think its a warranty issue on it either.
