Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform with a moonroof.

Hi guys. I'm looking to buy a Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform for my 2015 limited 4runner with a moonroof. In not sure which size to get. I want the biggest rack I can get without having to drill the front and or cover my moonroof.

Anyone have pics of their Rhino Rack regardless if you have a moonroof or not. Just want yo see how it will look. Here's a pic of my rig

RhinoRack Platform

Hey this is Scott from BOLD Overland, as a 2014 Limited owner myself, I was conflicted with the size I wanted to run as well since I had a sunroof. Ultimately I looked at the different lengths and originally went with a 76x49, however this will still over the sunroof. The smallest length you can get will be a 60x49, this will be a tiny footprint and no drilling will be necessary. You need to decide what gear and how you will utilize the rack. Currently we are running the 84x49 pioneer platform to maximize our footprint for all the gear we carry. I can still open and use my sunroof, but the rack does cover it. feel free to contact me if you have more questions, as RhinoRack Ambassadors I will do what I can to answer your questions.

I've got the 3/4 rack from Rhino, which should be the same one in Scott's pics. It does cover up about 1/3 of the sunroof but doesn't make the sunroof unusable. No need to drill as it doesn't utilize any mounting points past the forward most factory spot. I don't really need the sun beaming down on me so I kind of like the little bit of shade it offers but still lets alot of airflow in.

Nice thing I've noticed about the shorter rack is the reduction in wind noise compared to a full length rack.

60x49 looks to small so I was looking at the 3/4 or 76x49 rack. Like you guys mentioned it does cover part of the sunroof which I think I can handle. (never had a sunroof before so I use mine daily).

I was going to go with the Backbone system for future proofing in case I get a RTT.

Spent the last few days on this as I'm a moonroof owner too.

There's a thread here with someone posting shots with 76 x 49 rack covering roughly half the moonroof. It functions and tilts fine though. Most likely what I would do if I decide to pull the trigger

I have the 76" version mounted using the Backbone system. Excellent product, and straight-forward install. Covers about 1/3 of the moonroof.

Yes, sunroof functions 100% with the rack. Shouldn't matter which length you go with.

I loved the 76x49 and that size did work well with my sunroof, but once I had my RTT on the rack, I had very little usable room on the rack. I moved up to the 84x49 and now I am able to have Maxtrax mounted on the front or whatever with room in the back for my propane bottle and a few other things. The sunroof does still work, but the wind is pretty loud. If you run the longer rack, RhinoRack now makes a wind fairing to stop some of the noise.

I got the 60 x 49 on my new 2021, looking to probably get the snowboard/ski add-on for winter. Anyone used that accessory or have any other recommendations?

Side note- please ignore my front plate, haven't had a chance to remove it and get other good photos yet
