Rear storage solutions that don't take up floor space?
Hey guys, I wanted to see if anyone out there had any options/solutions for storing things up off the cargo floor? I'm not talking big items, just things like a first aid kit, umbrella, foldout chair. etc.? Either gear (climbing/surfing) or my dog are usually in the back of my 4Runner, so ideally I'd like to have these accessible but also off the ground. I remember seeing another member who mounted some of those molle (spelling?) pads/pouches to the back of his seats but I can't find the picture now.

I put small items in my side storage bin with the door I made, but for a chair or bigger you may need to make an internal ''shelf'' that hangs from the ceiling that you can slip things into with the hatch up. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/attach...1&d=1531143596

That might have been me. I’ve got the same problem as you, want to keep the floor space clear. I’ve attached several things to the back of the seats- molle panel, first aid kit, flashlight, and web pouches. For chair storage, I’ve found that the side compartment works perfect for my Helinox.

Here are pics from the last thread. I’ve added a few things, I’ll grab a new pic at lunch.

I like the idea of the rear window Molle storage but the pricing seems high IMHO.

There are a couple companies that make a panel that mounts on stand-offs that covers the rear windows. The panels have holes and slots you can tie and mount things to. I like the idea except for the loss of visibility - so I haven't bought any. Other members have installed a net just below the roof to hold lighter items. Those plus over the seatback pockets are about it.

It seems like hanging tools on a pegboard behind your and your family's heads at up to 80 mph to me. I mean, no one plans on getting in a wreck, but if you do, why add projectiles to the equation?
And yeah, the pricing seems high.

Thanks. Do you remember what the thread was titled? I tried to go back and find it before posting this but didn't have any luck.

I made use of floor space instead of having the 3rd row of seats installed in the vehicle
