sprint booster or PC or a tune ?

Did some reading on tacoma world forum and the tunes are very favorable from members. The Orange virus and the KDMax tune both use the VF tuner device. OV is that the one listed on the VF Tuner site for $150 but you still need the devcie and software. The KDmax is the same just a custom tune map from someone who created it and is selling it to "tuners".

There are a few tuners for the kdmax pending your area and it is probably just a person from a forum. They most likely bought the VF pro tuner ($1250) device which allows for multiple VIN uses. Website states can purchase credits for the purpose of registering / flashing other vehicles / providing tuning / calibration services. The single one time use would be about $700-800 range, software , device and custom tune map.

I reached out to a local kdmax tuner to speak with them about a 4runner tune, on the kdmax site it says in beta. Remapping throttle responses and some extra HP /TQ. Its just tuned for better drivability and you may have increase in MPG. QUoted $400 for a kdmax tune , taco forums say $300 and a member here paid $350.

I requested the maps but the tuner didn't have them "they're fairly new" so I dont have it yet. Basically he hasn't tuned a 4runner and hasn't purchased it from the original creator. I've tuned various harleys before and shared maps and yes it can create little extra HP/TQ and better drivability. If anyone else has more input on this please discuss about it.

Yesterday, I asked my wife if she likes her new (used) 4Runner. She said everything is great, but it's a bit gutless (her words).

Just installed the Sprint Booster from JasonB yesterday. Well, not much to say that hasn't been said already. Fast shipping, easy install and it works as advertised. I'm still trying out the different settings but have found Race2 to be good for now.

I got my 2011 SR5 back and it definitely feels sluggish compared to my other ride (a 2021 Audi SQ5…lol). It’s my dog hauler so I definitely don’t drive it like I stole it, but it still needs a little something. Was going to get the PC first but settled on the Sprint Booster thanks to this forum and Jason B. Can’t wait to plug it in!

Great! @CO_ForeUnner - It's funny how many people that say "Oh, my wife mainly drives my truck and she doesn't care about that type of stuff, or she wouldn't notice", lol. Women typically like to feel secure when merging on the highway/passing, etc. and these trucks don't give that feeling, UNTIL the Sprint Booster is installed. It's goes from a turtle to a jack rabbit.

We drove a fair amount today and she really likes the SB. She's coming from a 360HP twin turbo BMW X3, so the T4R felt very sluggish. It's much better now. I think we have it set at Race3 right now.

I'm new here, but I've had the 4runner for a year. Definitely noticed the throttle lag the first time I drove it. I figured I'd get used to it eventually, and it's not supposed to be a sporty car.

Well, eventually never came. It's time to fix the problem. I just ordered one from Jason. Looking forward to it..

It should be every owners first mod. I have had mine for years and love it. I keep mine on Race 7 but I like it super sensitive. I have had mechanics freak out as they thought I had an ECU tune. It makes all the difference. Also, the SB vs. PC , with SB you can make the settings and unplug the controller making is stealth. I keep the controller in the glove box as I never adjust it. If I had a kid I would put it in valet mode.

Exactly, that's another cool feature. You can unplug it and make it completely stealth, with nothing visible. It feels like an ECU tune. At a red light, you'll beat a ford Raptor off the line, no joke, but then he will spank you after 100 feet If he doesn't have a Sprint Booster!
