Loggerhead’s ‘18 Nautical Blue TRD Off Road Build Thread (Wheels are mounted)

The title pretty much says it all. This is my first 4Runner. We traded in our 2016 Highlander for it. So far I’m loving it. Definitely more of a truck like ride but I love the higher driving position over the Highlander. New 275/70/17’s came in today. I also ordered Bilstein 5100’s for all 4 corners with a 1” Cornfed Suspension rear spacer. Upgraded LED headlights from XenonDepot are on the way as well as yellow film for the fogs from LaminX. This is gonna be fun.

Right on!

I got a '16 TP in the same color and am planning similar mods. I ran 5100's on my '04 Tundra, they do great for what I did. I plan on wheeling this, but nothing like I did in my CJ on tons lol.

Keep it up! I will be watching with pride seeing a Nautical get used!

Leather Installed

Katskin leather went in today. Went with the black leather with the red stitching to match the door panels. Also added heated seats. I decided not to purchase the premium off road package because I knew I’d be taking most of that stuff off anyway.

Bilstein 5100’s should be in tomorrow along with the XenonDepot LED headlights. And coming next Tuesday, wait for it.........

DARK BRONZE SCS RAY10’s!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait. Stay tuned.

I think there is some confusion The premium has the same wheels you got, no step bars, basically the same rig with the OEM leather, auto dimming rear view, turn signal mirrors, upgraded stereo, and I think that is it.

I had Katzins in my last rig and loved them. Dealer installed option in a Ram truck that was worked in the purchase deal. Factory leather was a huge price upgrade in that truck. In the 4Runner it is a minimal upgrade to the Premium. Had I wanted leather it would have been well worth the minimal upgrade cost to get the premium.

That being said, I do like your Katzkins. Did you install yourself?

Oh, well maybe so. The Premium they had on the lot had black TRD wheels, nerf bars, and some other stuff. Added up to about 4k extra in options. That being said, I’m happy with my choice.

I had the leather installed locally at a shop. I actually know the guy who did it quite well. I’m very happy with the quality of the Katzkin leather overall. Looks really nice in the truck.

The Pro wheels and nerf bars were probably a dealer add on package like “raptor” or something. Seems like a scam.

Yup, dealer installed options. Didn't come that way from the factory. It is the dealership's way of trying to make extra margin. Around here it seems they always do that to SR5's to raise the price of those.

I went through a similar situation.

One dealer had a "trdpro" looking Sr5 they said was "It's basically the same as the Trail and Off-Road models.", I kinda laughed because I quickly learned I knew more about their products.

For some reason, I really wanted a manual t-case shifter and of course the factory rear locker.Walked away and found my Trail Premium. Glad I got the TP as I did not know the rear seats recline, a huge hit with my 2 daughters.

Bilstein 5100’s are on

Got the Bilstein 5100’s installed with the 1” Cornfed Suspension rear spacer. The fronts are set at 1.75”. I really like the look. I would’ve liked a little more level look but it’s close. Still has about a half inch rake or at least it looks like it. Haven’t gotten to drive it yet but looking forward to it tomorrow. My wife had it today. I had a friend of mine who’s a certified Toyota mechanic to install the lift and do the alignment for $200. Score!!!!

In my giddiness to get the lift on I forgot to take any real before pics. Also, please excuse the current pics because it’s been raining all afternoon. I’ll try to get some better ones later. My XenonDepot LED lights are in as well and hoping to get those in maybe the first part of next week. Can’t wait for my wheels as well, coming Tuesday.

The bottom 2 pics were the best I could do for a before and after shot.
