Installing a Gentex w/homelink on a 5th gen
one of the things I regretted after my purchase was not getting the homelink..my wife parks in the garage, but I still like to be able to open from my vehicle..came across this on Amazon for the '16-'18 Tacos. will it work on our rigs?

It will fit fine. That one is pretty expensive, you can fins used ones on ebay a lot cheaper.
Gentex/Mito makes just about every rear view mirror out there, including OEM. There is only 2 different wiring connector types also.
.
The mount on the 4runner is a standard wedge puck style

Yea check eBay, I bought one for $60 brand new. Wiring is pretty easy. ran the wires down the driver side pillar and tapped into an accessory wire or add-a-fuse to the fuse panel.

I've got an SR5 with just the plain 4wd..no offroad, so I think it should work.

I have the OEM one in the console. No need to press and hold, just tap the button.

I just used a small piece of velcro to attach my opener to the side of the console. No extra cost, not attached to my visor and it works great.
