Quality Bumper and even better customer service. Hey If you choose a heavy bumper just get heavier spring next :-)

Eh. I'll need heavier springs either way, but I'm trying to keep the overall weight down since it's a DD. I'm thinking an aluminum version of this could shave off 100 pounds, which would make a big difference.
I've been looking at the Hefty Fab rear bumper. That thing only weighs 76 pounds with the single swing arm...

agreed, my 4r is my daily and lugging 250# in the rear is no fun

This is an older thread, but I wondered if the original poster or anyone else with an Expedition One rear bumper has some good pics that show how the OEM bumper cover is cut, and what the hatch area looks like, with the bumper on and hatch open.
The Expedition One site has some pics in their PDF instructions, but they could be better.
Thanks!

Wow that looks awesome! Thanks for the great photos. Does anyone know the weight of just the bumper? And, I'm wondering how it would hold up with regular automotive paints. I'm about to get some bodywork done.

Agreed, aluminum would be a great option.
Love everything else about it!

Just ordered my EO dual swing arm bumper. Can’t wait to get in on. Does anyone know of a good guide for measuring and cutting the rear bumper? I can’t find much other than to “follow the contours of the bumper”.

Bluesteel,
I've got the bumper and did the install myself. The trim on the rear bumper cover is pretty easy but I'd go slow. You can always do a couple of test fits and trim more if needed.
Also you're going to want some help, it's difficult to move precisely.

I've had my expedition one bumper for 1-2 years and haven't had a single issue. This year I had to rebuild the bearings and seals but I think it was my fault I didn't have enough grease in the chamber. I am still trying to figure out a solution to cover the void in the wheel well, haven't found anything that looks good yet.

There's some spare tire shaped water containers you could put under there
Offroading | Trailedonline | United States
Or you could go with a Long Range tank
Long Range America - LRA Tanks, Kaymar Bars, Scheel-mann Seats
I've seen others make custom brackets and put air tanks down there

Mike,
Thanks, I am concerned slightly with WHERE to cut but I will cut cautiously with room to cut more if need be.

Wow! That's the first color-matched bumper I've seen that I actually like. Fantastic job.

My single swing arm bumper is installed as of this weekend. I am impressed. I agonized over my rear bumper selection. I have no regrets. It is very well made and no doubt I’ll get years of hassle free use out of it. And it looks amazing on my rig!! I have metal parts installed from all of the usual companies. And this fitment is stellar - on par or even exceeding the best. I love the way the body panel cuts are hidden behind or under the bumper. Incredibly sanitary. You have a huge amount of leeway with your cuts. Huge. There’s No worries if you even generally follow the instructions. Speaking of instructions- the ones sent with the bumper are legit horrible. Online not much better. I spent more time organizing a bag of bolts- some standard and some metric- and trying to decipher which part was what. Ultimately it was very simple. Wing bracket on each side. And 2 piece brackets that secure to frame/crossmember. Having installed one now it can easily be done in a couple hours. What is the deal maker here is also the latch! It is functional, easy, clean and elegant. I bounced around hard off-road and the tire mount on the swing didn’t even twitch. Now I need an equally elegant way to relocate my license plate. Although it’s sooooo close to being legally visible as is with my 285’s angle mounted as high and passenger side as possible. Ohhh- rear camera is 8/10 with the single arm without relocating.
