Any feedback on Larry Miller Toyota of Boulder, CO?

Trying to buy in the west from Richmond, VA, I took a user's suggestion and contacted Costco. They linked me up with Larry Miller Toyota in Boulder.

Miller has two TRD Off Roads with the features I want, a 2018 and a 2019. Before I pull the trigger, I want to know if anyone has had a particularly good or bad experience with them. The salesman's name is Nang Ng and he said he has been there for 20 years.

Anyone?

eh

I found a 2015 Limited just a few months ago. It was trashed inside, and the automatic running boards didn't work. I let them know I was very interested and they didn't have to fix the running boards, but could just remove them for me.
They complained and said they had to fix the running boards in order to make it "certified" I said fine, but I would want an appointment to immediately remove them if I purchased.

During the 3 week period it took them to certify the vehicle I found a lower mileage and 1 year newer vehicle in Colorado Springs same Larry Miller company. I let the Boulder guys know exactly what my negotiated price was in Co Springs (which I did over the phone since I didn't want to drive down unless I knew what I was paying for the vehicle) and asked them to beat it since their car was 1 year older and had more miles.
After I made a few follow up calls (it was hard form them to communicate) they offered me $50 (not a typo) off of the asking price!

I said thanks, but no thanks, and drove the extra hour to make the purchase from their sister dealership.

So sales is so so, no real winners there, but I didn't finalize a purchase so can't comment on the purchase process. The pre-sale process was average to below average with my main issues coming from a lack of communication, follow-up delays, and insult on their offer.
It's Boulder, CO. The vehicle sat for a few more weeks 3-4 and eventually they lowered the price to just above what I was asking (I assume for a small buffer to negotiate) and eventually sold.

Unrelated since you won't be going there for service, but Mike in their service department has treated me like a valued customer which unfortunately is not the norm.

Hope that helps!

*side note... I attempted to purchase another vehicle from a Larry H. Miller dealership several years ago. While in the dealership a few times I overheard another salesman offering to help out a couple and offered to knock off $100 from the purchase price and include a full take of gas and 1 oil change.

I walked away and they followed up via phone. I could hear another salesman in the background bashing me and being a jerk because I didn't take their first offer.

I bought my 2015 Trail from them. In early 2015 it was hard to find any 4runner in Colorado that wasn't already claimed before it hit the dealerships. Plus, there was a rail car shortage at that time, and a lot of Toyota Trucks and SUV's were stuck in Kentucky. I wanted one that was coming to them, but it already had a down payment on it. When that buyer backed out for a premium, they called me and I drove up immediately and put money down on it.

Anyways, Boulder sales did alright by me...but my sales guy was a younger enthusiast too with a built 80 series and his roommate also had a slightly build 5th gen 4runner. He was all about helping me out, knowing what I planned to do with it. He is no longer in their sales office though. My experience was good, cause they also gave me what I wanted on my trade-in. They also gave me a 3rd year of ToyotaCare. Service dept was ok, but if I need to go to a dealership, I go to Stevinson Toyota in Lakewood. Its closer for me anyways.

My experience is w/ Larry H. Miller too but not in Colorado. I recently bought my 2018 TRD Off Road Premium in Phoenix. It's a huge dealership w/ a lot of high volume sales. I was looking for one w/ KDSS.
I told them I was shopping around nationwide and could fly in anywhere that gave me their best price. They offered it to me for $39,600. I bought it.
I was surprised how transparent and upfront they were. If you need the name of the general salesman I worked w/, PM me.

Worst dealership.... Their pricing is not competitive. I would suggest Groove Toyota or Mountain States Toyota.

Before you buy make sure to check how long the truck has been sitting on the lot. A lot of new vehicles at Boulder Toyota and Groove Toyota were hit by hail.

I also bought mine in Phoenix (Peoria to be exact) at Larry H. Miller. Went there because they had no KDSS in Dallas. Good price, good customer service. Recommended.

Going thru costco bypasses the normal sales dorks you get when you walk in the door. You'll probably be dealing with the senior sales person or the fleet sales person. The prices are pre-determined so a no haggle experience is good.

Go, buy it, use the free Toyota care and be done with them.

Thumbs up

This!

Hail has been terrible again this year!

I use "i see cars" to check on used vehicles, compare recently sold inventory, and like @Herculean_T4R said to see how long the vehicle has been on the lot.

No matter where you go I would start with the Costco price as your starting point to negotiate.

Used to be my go to location for NOS FJ40 parts. Also purchased my TRD blower for my old FJ80 from them. Given it was years ago, but always reputable, and great/friendly service. Unless things changed, wouldn't hesitate to use them for parts.

Update: Japanese efficiency

I'm impressed: two days ago, I contacted the Costco dealer in Boulder, by phone from Richmond, VA, to inquire about a 2019 TRD Off Road. Today, I signed an agreement to buy (not a contract) a specific VIN that meets my requirements, at 7% off MSRP (cash sale, no trade-in, excl. TT&L). Not near the discounts available on 2018 closeouts with the factory incentives, but I couldn't find one of those that met my needs (and this one has black roof rails!)

According to the sales agent, the VIN I have on hold left the factory floor in Japan two days ago. On the 15th (which is two days from now) it will sail from Japan, arriving in LA on October 2. After that, it will take 2-3 weeks for the addition of port-installed options and shipment by rail to Denver.

Pretty amazing to me that an individual vehicle can be tracked from the factory to the dealer with such precision and in such a short window.

I agree with Herculean T4R.... Groove or Mountain States most often provide the most competitive pricing in Colorado on 4runners. If you buy for Costco price, you are getting ripped off. You can negotiate af few thousand less than Costco with a little time and patience

lol, groove had 11 pro's on the lot and they weren't coming down from 50k. In fact he shut me down on my second contact.

Now the f'er won't leave me (I mean my junk folder ) alone, lol. He is so tone deaf.

Less easy to negotiate with none yet available on the lot and you’re dealing from 1,600 miles away on the phone. Plus , Trump 25% tariffs are expected to kick in after the November elections. I’m also unwilling to change color or options.
