This is for all the Trail Editions with KDSS. We know the advantages, mainly the body roll at high speeds and the articulation at low. However, the drawbacks are protecting the system when offroading on rough trails.
If you're getting your KDSS 4runner crawling into the rocks, the OEM KDSS armor is terrible. The bulb that protects the lines over the frame is a weak design, not made through any passing any rocky obstacles.
The blub armor will not work vs a rocky obstacle where you have to come down your sliders. It bulges below the sliders and will get stuck or become the initial impact point when the wheels come down.
The RSG KDSS armor is flush with the sliders and the armor helps to avoid all the issues. However, the next weak point is the fuel tank armor, which I've bashed and I am looking into the RCI steel replacement.
