A few things to note. You do need an new harness along with the Hazzard switch. It will plug in (odd shape but still clicks in) but your hazzard will just flash non stop. Also, not sure if my conversion harness is 100% correct but I lost USB and I have two spare openings on the Entune 3.0 unit and only one remaining plug on the harness available but it matches none of the two available plugs.

Also, the side pieces next to the AC vents are different also and require trimming to fit. I may just buy those as well. I did not see any of this mentioned prior so I figured it was worth mentioning now.
That sucks to hear. I was hoping that it would be a more direct swap/retrofit and assumed it was based on skimming other posts. Would you happen to know the part #s for the hazard harness and AC vents? Please also keep us posted on the lost USB function.

does the old hazard button fit the new one? Are you able to just slice and play the old hazard wiring into the new one?
Stereo harness , take any pictures to match up to existing wiring? Lost of usb seems unusual.
Side pieces next to AC vents , pictures ?

Overall was it a simple swap besides the mentioned complications? Everything works , any lost features , have you updated the software if needed? Overall thoughts thx

Ok so an update. After speaking to Brian at AutoHarness it appears my USB adapter harness was missing from my order so we have to figure out replacement and then I should have USB. According to him there is also a remaining unused connection point at the back of the head unit. I will show in pictures once I get to my laptop.

As far as Hazzard switch, harness and side vent trim.. I had already ordered the hazzard switch from a 2021 model. The new head unit switches are narrower than the ones used on the 2014-2019 and will not fit the housing. They are also keyed to the housing differently and are more of a soft touch on/off vs the click type we have. I did not anticipate the harness also being incompatible so I do not have a part # on that yet. I believe the side vent trim is part of the unit and not sold separately as I am not seeing it separated from the unit on toyota parts website.

from searching I believe the trim is all one piece to the radio. What did you have to do to the side vent trim ?

I just received my harness from AutoHarnessHouse and a 2020 head unit. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the navigation jumper harness that did not come with the head unit. Hearing about the hazard switch and the vents is making me second guess this conversion...

You can make the vents work aa it is just the side trim that needs the raised edges and the small nipple cut off to seat where it looks right. It could still sit back 1mm for my OCD nature but you would be hard pressed to tell by looking. The emergency flasher is an entirely different situation. It is hard to know if I just received a bad switch or if it is the harness. I suspect harness though. I messaged AutoHarness to see if they could look into this as this conversion will more than likely require a hazard conversion harness also unless you score a salvage unit with all the trimmings. Mine came from a 2021 that had the T10 installed and that requires removing the side trim, hazard switch + harness as well as the top plate so that is what made my situation a bit more complex.

Btw that guy selling a stripped down 2021 unit for $2500 on ebay is missing all that plus the vents. Since you cannot score the side trim you would be screwed buying that from him.

Here is a picture last night. It really does change the cabin. Hopefully USB can get sorted this week. Once Hazards are situation I will do a proper addendum to this.

Also may have found the harness for the emergency flashers. I ordered it and will report in once I get it in hand. I suspect the harness should work as those that have done the transplant with all the bits intact have not reported issues. For reference just to document and help others:

2010-2019:

Hazard Warning Switch / 84332-35091
Hazard Switch Wire / C8215-35030

2020-2023:

Hazard Warning Switch / 84332-35100
Hazard Switch Wire / C8215-35040

thanks for the info itll be helpful if I can find a head unit at a reasonable price. Pending where it comes from some appear to have the hazard switch (ebay). The radio trim/bezel is most likely included with the radio and there isnt a part number?

The trimming of the vent bezel doesnt seem like too much of a problem, just curious to exactly what you trimmed.

On the vent side piece trim.. I had to trim some bit of plastic around the plastic mounting protrusion as the shape is a bit different until it was just a circular insert. They still sit about 1/1.5mm out from normal. I may have to take them off and just slowly file the plastic mounting post down so that it sits a bit closer but it really is hard to tell. I just need to be conservative as if I screw one up there is no replacing them (come as part of the unit).

I have no pictures of the back side of the trim but this is how they sit in the unit after trimming.

Can you help clarify what this actually connects to on the USB side in the center stack? I keep seeing images of this USB adapter harness but there is no USB A type connection on the OEM USB port so I am confused as to if there is a second part of this harness that no one is showing or if people are swapping out the OEM USB port which is also not being stated.

Hazard situation is still pending. Toyota came back and said that the hazard harness for the 2020-2023 MY 4runner is NLA which I find to be absurd. You cannot tell me that you will swap out an entire 4500 head unit if the hazard harness has an issue? That part is $14... Anyways, Brian at Autoharness is looking into this. Here is the pinout of old vs new.

A bit more clarity on the Hazard Switch connectors between the model years.
