If the snorkel uses the stock hole in the fender it should work, still may need some customization though like anything

From S&B: Jason, I'm not 100% sure on the 4runner but we had a customer with a 17 Tacoma that could not fit the ARB compressor there with our air box. This box is as big as possible to get the biggest filter possible and the most air (+43.47% air flow improvement over stock intake). Looking at the photo on the product page it shows the kit installed, it doesn't look like there's much room for the compressors or the battery. I do know that our kit will not work with any snorkels and its not designed to be water tight.

- Will need pics then, and don't think will work with snorkel unless you mod stuff after. See above reply from S&B. You could probably get it to work, but would be custom and on your own trials and tribulations.
Did you get anything in yet?

Looks like this is not the intake for me then, oh well, thanks for checking. Intersting they dont want to actually measure and find out for sure but also the fact that its not compatible with a snorkel makes it pretty useless for a lot of offroaders on here

Any comments on fuel economy?
Also, is this a oiled filter?

Does this help those of use that live at 5k feet and spend a lot of time in 8k - 10k feet altitudes?

It should help on highway if you drive how you normally always drove before you put it in. People hav a habit of flooring it all the time after they install it, to test out the new power and the awesome sound. It's just fun, but that part won't help with gas
Yes, there are two choices of filters. Oiled (re-useable and cleanable, lasts for life) or the dry (same price, throw away after 30k miles and buy new)
This intake gives a 43% increase in airflow over the stock toyota intake with the front plug out, and 37% increase with the plug in. See more in the 10 page pdf comparing cfm testing vs the stock toyota intake.

The simple answer is that the horsepower and torque gains will depend on your vehicle and your particular driving conditions. Improving the airflow to your engine has been shown to increase horsepower. With that being said, S&B doesn't publish horsepower numbers because of the inaccurate and outlandish claims made by many of their competitors. Instead, they test to the ISO 5011 Filtration Standard and publish the airflow, efficiency, and capacity data on the product pages found on their website. This is the internationally accepted standard for testing filters and intake systems, so they can hold their competition accountable if they make an incorrect claim.
Here is link to the detailed test results vs the toyota stock intake system:
5th gen 4Runner Intake Test Results 19 page.pdf 43% increase in airflow over stock toyota intake!
I haven't talked to any customers that have had the their 4runner on a dyno, but did have this kit on a 2015 Taco with the 4.0 and noticed good improvements in throttle response, low end torque, and top end power.
If you have any questions, call or text 717-319-2100 or to order over phone.

I'd like to see some dyno numbers as well, all they advertise is the 43% air flow increase, but every cone filter intake will give you at least a 40% increase in air intake.

Did you read the 19 page PDF with the testing? see below. S&B WILL NOT make an intake unless they see gains with this vigorous testing. I've been begging them for years to make this, and had to wait until it was the 4Runners turn in the queue. They told me they wouldn't make it unless the results proved itself and had big gains over the factory intake. I had no guarantees, but it did prove itself. I really encourage everyone to read this in detail. This cost a small fortune to do.

Also, this intake is the lowest price cold air intake with a new high flow airbox that can't be touched currently.

Yep, I read the whole thing. I'm not hating on the product, no need to be defensive, I just have seen dyno numbers for other intakes would have liked to see testing like that. AFE and K&N also claim 40% or above air flow, like I said that is expected.

Thanks, Jason. I understand what you are saying about variances in each environment, but even with contextual differences, a dyno before and after an intake installation would clearly validate whether there is any change in performance. Whether you dyno in Colorado at 2k ft elevation, 25 degrees F and 10% humidity or in Miami at sea level on a 110F day and 90% humidity, once you establish a baseline for stock, you can gauge the results of a performance part.
This is just common understanding with intakes or any performance mod, you know? Not trying to come down on you specifically but Toyota has such strict rules around durability and quality that I want a reasonable range of what to expect for performance from an aftermarket part before I swap out something OEM.
There was only one guy who dynoed before/after the TRD intake and I think it was like +8 whp over stock and +19 lb ft of torque. That is a pretty sizable chunk but unfortunately I couldn't find any other dyno results.
I could be open for an intake + exhaust combo, but again, want to see some proof before spending hundreds of dollars and strapping anything to the powertrain of my 4R.

Me? I'm definitely not defensive. I'm just trying to help and explain. I also submitted a case with S&B yesterday and what I wrote was what they explained to me above in my other reply. If I made this intake would I have a dyno machine in my shop? yea probably. I like to see dynos too. THe reality is it will probably be years until there is one since S&B isn't going to do it, and I don't have a local customer with this intake. BUT if you want to dyno it, I'll sell you an intake for my cost to help offset your cost for a dyno. I'm here to help, and I'm never in a bad mood.
