Thanks for the Feedback! If anyone has been on the fence for one of of these, now's the time to grab one. Price increases are coming from all manufacturers it seems sooner than later.

Hey Jason
Someone asked a question above I don't think got answered. If you have installed a compressor near the passenger firewall as many of us have like this:
Do we need to worry about fitment issues? I'm not clear if there is a bigger footprint than stock.
Thx!

Here you go.
The ruler is against the firewall just below the top wire loom. So a bit over 11", but there is the factory wire loom after that that comes off the fender and heads down.

Not to be a douche, but what does doing dyno runs (3rd party, controlled environment, etc) with OEM vs this system have to do with others claims? The variable is that essentially NO ONE posts dyno sheets because the numbers are not high enough to justify the typical $100 per hp upgrade that is the reality for so many others.
If this is better, proof is in the dyno sheets. Air flow increases are terrific and CAN produce more power, but not if the vehicle in question can utilize that additional volume via OEM variable or custom mapping.
FWIW, its a great looking unit and well engineered system.

I would say unless you are drag or road racing your 4Runner often that this intake won't do anything for performance and I find the 1-1.5 mpg increase hard to believe too.

Has this been CARB approved yet? Last I checked it was undergoing approval, but I haven't heard anything since. Thanks in advance.

I bought this a few weeks ago and installation was very easy. While I don’t think it increased HP, low end response seems better, the sound is great. Also looks pretty sick, that’s worth something right?
Also, my thinking is yes the trucks do come from factory with cold air intake, but Toyota is building something for soccer moms so they put baffles in stock intake to reduce noise , that can’t be helping airflow.

Following up on this, JasonB. Is there an ETA on when this will happen? Will it happen?

I've asked multiple times and unfortunately no one can control CARBs timing. It will likely be a long time before this intake is carb exempt. Sorry I don't have better news. But some good news is, once a new car is inspected in CA, you can go years without needing it done again, so if you're in CA, but that time, it probably will be done.

As others have mentioned, about a 1 mpg increase in mpg. No significant power gains (as expected) but definitely a smoother power band.
Looks and sounds great!
Excited to eventually add the Gibson Exhaust and Sprint Booster from Burtman Industries.
Thanks Jason!

Had a quick call with
@ Jason B
. Helped me get it ordered asap. I plan on consulting him on any of my other auto part needs. He's the man! Hope it arrives before 9/2. Otherwise it might be a few days before I have the chance to install it again.
Side note: Knowing that everyone who has an aftermarket CAI for our vehicle has reported better gas mileage,I decided to do some maths.
If your mpg increases by 1, price of gas stays at $2.50 and you use a tank a week, then it would take 3 years to pay off an S&B CAI! After that you start to SAVE money!
CP = cost of tank
X% = percent better fuel efficency
CE = Tanks filled per year
W = cost of CAI
W/((X% * CP) * CE) = years till money is made back
|
That time will be cut in half now since gas price have doubled!

I quoted some customers posts above that I've sold this intake too. With gas prices they way they've been, all these items below can help out.
S&B intake at Burtman Industries
Sprint Booster for 4th & 5th gen 4Runners, sale
Gibson 4th & 5th gen Exhausts at Burtman Industries
