My first t4r - trail premium or ORP?

So I have the opportunity to buy either a 6k mile 2016 trail premium with all the options but no extras at $35k or a 2018 ORP 2500 miles loaded with added 2.0 icon suspension kit and remote start plus 125k mile extended platinum warranty at $39,750. I’m assuming this is a no brainer for the ORP, am I missing anything?

Yeah they would have to come off that 35k to make it worth it

Thx fellas. Do you happen to know if the platinum warranty is transferable after I buy the truck? I know he can transfer to me but not sure if it follows the truck after that or it’s a one time thing

If you are a costco member, you get $1250 below invoice, and there is a toyota $1000 off right not, that's $2250 below invoice, my TRD OR invoice was $38,758 after discounts $36,508.. the premium would cost a little more.. I suggest you see if there is any 2018s TRD OFP left in your area.. lots of Toyota Dealerships in SoCal.. you can buy the extended warranty anytime and very low in price compared to the dealer.

As far as i know, warranties purchased from previous owner does not transfer with the vehicle to another owner. The name and info on the contract has to match up.

i called toyota today and they said he, as the original owner, can transfer to me but he has to fill out some paperwork and send in to Toyota for exactly the reason you mentioned. just seemed like it was only doable between private party and only once when sold by original owner but i'm not clear on that last part.

Toyota Place is a Medium size dealer like Tustin Toyota, they move about 800 vehicles a month, the internet sales lady said 30% of those numbers are Costco Members

only thing about the one i'm looking at is that it has this kit:
2010-UP Toyota 4Runner 0-3.5" Suspension System - Stage 2 (Billet) | K53062

and the 125k warranty. even if i get a new 2018 for 39k, i'm thousands behind in getting it setup and covered the same, no?

ICON makes some nice stuff... my thinking is the cost difference is a few thousand dollars..
$39,750 - $3200 (kit) = $36,550 - $1000 for the extended warranty = $35,550
so you are paying about $35,550 for a TRD ORP.. I suspect 2018 new ones run for $37,500-$39,000...with the discounts.. total difference is $2500-$4000

These things are like an adult version of Legos.. you can customize it anyway you want.. to your personality..

I'm already planning to add a Lock Er Down console vault as well as Canvasback, already added Ceramic tint and the car is barely a week in my possession... already planning to switch to Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor Tires and a Magnuson Super Charger down the road.. not to mention if Ilm going to put a lift in the vehicle.. having a great time piecing things together as this is my first 4x4

But I see your point, your TRD OR has only 2500miles on it.. which is nothing... did the dealer tell you why the car with such low miles and nice upgrades was up for sale?

I was told the warranty was $3500-$5k for the platinum by a dealer

That’s way to much. There is a thread on here that you can get the same warranty for about 600 bucks. I bought mine after having my 4Runner for 6 months.

Check out this thread: How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Then weigh your options. You're basically paying new car pricing for used 4runners.. and ask yourself WHY someone modded a brand new truck and then traded it. For me, it was better for my personal peace of mind to buy a brand new one that I knew only I had touched and done right than it was to buy a used one with unknown history. For reference, I bought my TRD ORP brand new for $36,500 (before taxes) out the door.

If you could get either of those trucks for a better than new price, I would say absolutely go for it, but at this point you gain nothing buying used, except some aftermarket parts you don't know the history or install of.
You also never mentioned colors! Both colors you'd be happy with?
When the dust had settled, I realized I was VERY thankful I'd bought the TRD Offroad over a Trail. It's silly, because its some badging and stitching.. but for some reason the NAME meant something to me, even though I thought it wouldn't.

I appreciate this. I’m back to the drawing board and looking at new vehicles. Didn’t know they could be had for such great prices
