Aftermarket suspension to feel like kdss?

Test drove a 2018 trd off road premium with kdss. Really like the ride with kdss. Couldn’t make a deal with dealer. But there is another 18 off road premium without the kdss for quite a bit less $. If I decide to get a non kdss are there any aftermarket suspensions that will make it feel like or better than the kdss.
Background. I don’t do any off roading, I don’t mind doing a 1-2” suspension lift. Want to keep that nice planted feel on turns like the kdss system. I’m more focused on street ride than the off roading. Sorry if this has been answered. I have searched and am mainly finding lifts with kdss.

Not without significant complexity, thinking dual bypass shock setup, which will set you back more than KDSS, with the potential for a big headache and lots of maintenance.

If it’s in your cards I’d save up and try to strike an agreement with other dealers in the region. Pre-owned GX460 has KDSS as well and their resale values drop quicker than 4Runners, just to keep in the mix. They’re heavier so don’t handle quite the same, but nice nonetheless.

Funny you mention the gx460. I was looking at those too but a used certified 2015 with 47k goes for around 38k. Right around what I would pay for a new 2018 4Runner with kdss.

Hang in there until you can get KDSS. I have it and love the ride compared to the SR5 or even the Pro. It stiffens up at speed and you don't feel like you're going to tip over at 85mph.

You could also increase spring rate and widen the track width. That will stiffen it up and reduce body roll.

Fwiw, I think I may just remove both swaybars when I get kings. Eventually you learn not to drive careless and you will not get much sway.

Springs with higher springrate will reduce bodyroll in the same way as KDSS does, but it will ride firmer than stock springs with KDSS, which isn't a bad thing IMO.

It would be possible to get KDSS like feel with a stiffer swaybar.. But nobody makes one, because these vehicles are not generally purchased for road handling. Most people want less swaybar interference vs more for off-road use.

Just get the KDSS and save yourself a lot of frustration trying to simulate it.

In fact, if your use is Road.. Take a test drive of the limited.

I almost went this route, but I found the KDSS ride to be more comfortable and planted (But that also could have mostly been due to the 17" wheels vs. 20").

I do wish I had ventilated seats though come summer...

I actually did have a 2016 limited. And from what I remember the kdss felt better to me than xreas too. Honestly I don’t feel that those ventilated seats did much, wasn’t really impressed. Would have liked a hid headlights or power lift gate instead.

It didn't make much of an impression on me back in 2014 either, but I also test drove in January... so there's that. But since then, I've really come to enjoy it in rental cars when out of town. I don't know how much I'd use it, but its a luxury that I've come to enjoy along with seat heaters, and being in Texas I think i'd use it a lot more than the heaters.

All that said, I may be looking for a used GX in another 3 or 4 years. That should put some of the 2019 certified pre-owned GX's in my price range by that time. I just wish it looked more like the prado. HID's, leather, and 3 rows is a must for my next car.
