Well I'm trying to get fluids for Apple. Toyota says 75w 85 LT Diff Gear Oil for diffs and 75w 85 LF Transfer Oil for Xfer Case. Seems straight forward. No one carries the Xfer Case oil and low supply of the diff oil. Wtf?? One dealer says to use the diff oil in both places that their is a provision to the part number calling for the diff oil ( I tend to believe the book calling for a different part) also the other guy doesn't see that same provision. Seemed amazed that he didn't stok the LF but neither had a clue as to what's the difference between LF and LT. So I ask what the hells the difference!!!!!!
From having changed the fluids on my old Jeep Grand Cherokee in a land far away and ages ago, from what I recall it had to do with friction modifiers that were added to the fluid for the automatic locker in the transfer case.
I was told make sure to get the correct fluid, or the Quadra-Drive system may not work correctly and fail.
