285/75/17 in the XLT anyone?
Anyone running the Cooper XLT in 285/75/17? Wondering if anyone's had any rubbing with the tall and skinny true 33s? Currently sitting on OME 2.5/1.5 lift with stock UCAs.

I have not run the XLT's, however I have run a couple different tires in 285/75. I'm currently on the ST Maxx and have run Ridge Grappler in that size as well. The RG is probably most similar in size to the XLT. The ST Maxx is a bit taller and narrower.
My experience is you'll need after market UCA's with caster at around 4.2*-4.4* and a body mount chop to avoid rubbing when compressed. Your wheel offset will also play a factor in it as well. Expect to move the fender liner and do some trimming

Awesome thanks a lot this is exactly what I was wondering so I can do some "pre-work" before I get to the shop. Wow so you actually go past 4.0, I haven't read too many guys doing that but I know with aftermarket UCAs it's very doable to even the tread wear and reduce rub. I'm running factory TE rims 17x7.5 so hoping (from what I've read) that the offset won't be a problem!

I can't say for sure bout the TE rims but I think it'll be ok. I run 17x9 rims so the same tire on a 17x7.5 would stand a bit taller but I don't think it would be a problem.
As far as caster goes I actually run about 4.8* now as that's what it took to get everything not to rub when I ran 305/70's. I may pull it back just a bit on my next alignment since I recently went back to 285/75's

I've tested it in Moab and took Top of the World in the rain and it didn't slip once. Also went on Onion Creek and Thompson Canyon in wet slop and mud as well and it handled good for an AT. Can't recommend these tires enough. We'll see how they handle the Utah snow and ice but the previous AT3 had high regards in that area. My only concern is the 2-ply sidewall vs 3-ply on the BFGs. Other than that the AT3 XLT is a better overall AT tire. Highly recommend them.

curious if you have more feedback on the tire.
Struggling to make a decision on a mud terrain AT hybrid tire.

BFG KO2 C-Load only has 2 plies. E load has 3. Each of the 2 plies on the C Load is thicker than the 3 plies of the E load, but combined the 3 are thicker for the E load for obvious reasons. The number of plies doesn't necessarily correlate to strength or puncture resistance.

4th set of Coopers, 3rd set of the AT3 family.
2012 Tacoma build - STMaxx and AT3 - 33's
2017 F150 Build - AT3 XLT - 295's
2017 T4RP Build - AT3 XLT - 285's
I'm a Cooper convert. I've had KO2's mixed into the list above and will not go back to BFG tire (exception KM3) for all terrain needs. The Coopers IMO are far better in noise, traction, and ride. Handle trails just fine as well based on dirt time at LBL, Windrock, and Wooly's.
These ride like glass and is my recommendation for an A/T tire.

I ran them for about a year. They were great tires for an AT. My few complaints about them were that they would retain small pebbles and one of the tires was difficult to balance. But performance wise in dirt, gravel, rain, snow, ice was great. Aired down they crawled fine. Again my biggest pet peeve was that they retained small pebbles more than other ATs I've run.
I've since switched to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. It wasn't for any other reason than I wanted to switch tires and my girlfriend needed new tires on her truck so I just transferred my SCS wheels and the Cooper AT3's to her Tacoma. She still has the Coopers on hers. I'd say the Falkens and Coopers perform similarly and ride similarly. Road manner are good on both and off-road performance is great as well. The Falken's eject stones a lot better IMO.
Honestly I think either is a great choice. I wouldn't be opposed to going back to Coopers when I pick my next tire.

I just took some AT3's (not XLT's) off my truck. now, there's a big caveat, which is that I bought them used. had about 60% tread. but they were awful. none of the tires would balance. wet traction was awful. got sidewall cuts super easy. Got a leak on pretty mild rocky terrain. They weren't old and the rubber wasn't dry, but man. rough.

Just want to jump in on this thread...
Yesterday, one of my S/T Maxx's popped a flat on me. After 62,XXX miles on them and going on 5 years old this October, I'm not mad at all. They've had a great life and have served me well on numerous road trips, wheeling trips in the woods, on the beach, through some mud, through the snow and ice even... but since I'm not doing much wheeling these days, I decided to purchase the AT3 XLT's. I am super excited and they should arrive next Wednesday. I will post some pictures once they're mounted and balanced and on the truck. I'm VERY excited!

To anyone who has run the BFG K02's and then switched to the cooper at3 XLT's, did you notice any difference in ride comfort? I am currently running C load 285/70r17 K02's and I like their combination of good road manners, smoothness and off road capability. I want something with better wet traction as I feel they do tend to slide easily in wet weather (most noticeable after 20k miles on them, they were fine when new). Im about ready for a new set of tires, but im nervous about an E load tire and the possible rough ride it may cause. I do 90% driving on road, with weekend off road excursions and camping trips.

Reviving an old post...
Does anybody have a long term review of the Cooper AT3 XLT's?
I've narrowed my tire choice down to the XLT and the Falken Wildpeak AT3w (285/70/17 E). My driving profile is 70% on road, 15% towing a 2500lb boat and 15% offroad/overland but that's changing and I'll be doing a bit more overlanding on my new tires. I'll be installing a 3" Ironman suspension lift and SCS 17 X 8.5 wheels on my 2010 TE. My current tires are BFG TA/KO's (265, 70, 17 C) which have served me well for 80k miles but, being in the PNW, I'd like something that is a bit better in wet conditions.
Right now the Coopers are the front-runners but only because they're 55lbs vs 59 for the AT3w's.

2nd set (ran 35's on my F150).
These are great and my choice / recommendation for an A/T tire. I've got close to 40k miles under my feet on them, and I'm an old BFG diehard...not anymore
