Minimalist rear tent enclosure for sleeping with hatch open?

Does anyone have experience with this? Like a fitted cover more than a framed out tent thing.
Also, brands for full width mattress that can be compacted when not in use (not airbeds)? I have the sliding shelf so it would extend out.
Thanks!

I have a Napier tent I bought off amazon for under $300. It’s a universal SUV tent but the fit is great. I’ve used it for a couple seasons and not a rip or anything broken. Have used it on my old 3rd gen and now my 5th gen. Easily rolls up into a 3 foot long carrying bag. Highly recommend if that’s something you’re looking for.

They make a bigger one that has an enclosed awning area and another canopy on the other side that I’m going to upgrade for next year.

Little different option: A Slumberjack Roadhouse Tarp with the plan of pitching a ground tent under it if needed.

I have one but still haven't used it yet.

Thanks, I'm new to this.
The Napier Sportz Cove looks like it's pretty much what I need.

Yep, definitely going to have to order one of these, I had a (similarly priced) one I found on Amazon, however, that met it's match last weekend at The Cove

Sure...if you don't mind never waking up ;-)

I'm not a fan of hooking my shelter to my vehicle. We like to play games with the RTT guys. Let them set up and then suggest a night ride!!

Are you looking for strictly a place to sleep or is this more of a cooking/eating shelter? I like the big tarp idea. I've rigged my big 12x12 kelty between a tree and the roof rack before (along with my hammock). It's easy to rig with a single or pair of poles too. That only takes care of the rain/sun though. Leaving the truck out of the picture is much more appealing though.

What's your sleeping preference? My buddy picked up a Teton Sports cot and pad. He says they sleep as well as his bed at home and for the size/price they should.

Is this for hot or cold weather camping? No tent is going to trap much heat but mostly just block the wind. However, using a big sheet-metal box as part of your shelter system may work great in some weather and terribly in other.
