My template was spot on. Just be sure to measure 3 times, "test" fit by placing snorkel with threaded rods in the slots and aligning to the template before cutting. Another way could be to use lipstick or nail polish on the threaded rods and transfer it to the template that's already on the truck. The lipstick/nail polish will transfer to the template showing if you have the right placement or not.

As a reference, these step-by-step instructions with pictures were immensely helpful: Dobinsons 5th Gen 4Runner Snorkel - Step by Installation and Overview

Good luck with the install!

Josh @ Apex Overland did the install, but if I recall correctly, the template was a little off. They do plenty of snorkel installs so he was well versed at where each hole is supposed to be in general. I think the actual install time was <20 minutes

Ya, Josh is the man when it comes to anything Toyota if you’re in the area. He has been a huge help on my build and ok 2 hours away from them.

My install involved a ~13 hour round trip drive and a hotel stay (he started on the truck before 8am, and I didn't want to leave at 2am and come back the same day so I drove down the night before). That being said, I didn't drive down just for the snorkel, they also did my lift, skids, and some odds and ends. It was absolutely worth it and they solidly won my business for everything I can get through them

An update. Received my Dobinsons snorkel yesterday and installed it today. It's a straight forward process. Not difficult at all when you take your time. The most annoying part was nearly breaking all the fender/lining clips and grommets so I'll need to buy replacements. Using a dremel and cutting disc made easy work for the big hole.

I’ve had mine installed and in all weather conditions for a year and a half now. The truck is always outside. I’d say mine has faded especially looking back at the new pictures in this thread. I just ordered up some plastidip that should match my silver nicely. I’m going to try to dip it to see if I like the look better before buying a new fender and eliminating this from my truck. It’s my biggest regret for sure. I’m still getting moisture into my airbox so I don’t know if the rain channels on the snorkel head aren’t doing their job properly or what.

If I’m getting enough water into the airbox for it to collect with the drain hole plugged then the snorkel isn’t doing it’s job. I may be getting cleaner air overall but the trade off is significant.

I’ll post pics with the dipped snorkel. I’m hoping I’ll like the look at least.

question about the snorkel install:

Is there a rubber/silicone hose that runs from the intake box to the inside of the fender area? I'm asking because I've purchased a used Safari snorkel and I did not receive the rubber connecting hose that connects the snorkel body to the intake body.

Is that rubber part an OEM part that comes stock on all 5th gens?

The hose from the snorkel to the airbox comes with a snorkel kit. OE has no hose there. The box is just open to the inner fender.
