New tires to the market Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain AT

I haven’t seen these reviewed at all yet or posted and figured I’d post some pics in case anyone else is looking at them. Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain AT tires. Stock size 265/70r/17. These just came out the last couple months and made exclusively for Discount tire. I got some Cooper ATP’s installed last week and hated them after a week of driving. Coming off touring tires they rode like a MT. Clunky. Loud at 45mph. Heavy. Square. Terrible tires and nothing like other AT tires I’ve had in past. Thank god Discount tire has an amazing return policy and they recommended going to their newest tire from Goodyear this “Ultraterrain”. They actually look much more aggressive then the Coopers so I was nervous but they promised me I can switch to a different tire if I didn’t like. Serious best service. So I switched to the Goodyear’s and wow what an amazing tire. They are unbelievably quiet and handle incredible. They weigh less then the coopers and are a little taller as well so they fit quite a bit better. But main thing is they look very aggressive almost identical to a Duratrac but ride like a touring or LT tire. Very very happy. No mileage reports obviously yet and I haven’t taken off-road, but I am going to the mountains in couple weeks where I’ll get to put them through some snow mud and ice. Sales rep said they are amazing for snow so I’m looking forward to testing. I think I’m gonna get a leveling lift kit 1” in rear 1.75” in front which should really improve rigs stance. I didn’t wanna go with beefy 285’s because this is my daily and the car my wife and I take everywhere, so gas mileage and comfort/road noise wasn’t something she would be happy about. Feel lucky to have gotten these and definitely would recommend for anyone in a similar spot as me.

Good looking tire. I would love to know how well they handle in heavy rain and snow. I may be going that route. How much for the set?

Living in Seattle I’ve gotten to test the heavy rain already 😬 so far so good. Ultimate test will be heavy downpour on freeway passing semi trucks that are pushing water into my lane. Will let you know how they do after weekend in the snow ice and mud. Out the door with all taxes and fees I think i got them for $840. $180 per tire before taxes.

Not too bad. I think I may go that route. If they balance well, handle rain well, perform in moderate snow, off-road decent enough, I think we may have a winner. Keep us posted.

Look kinda like the Falken Wildpeak AT3W but at double the price. That's very expensive for a tire of this size.

I think if you’re looking at KO2’s duratrac’s open countries etc this is a good price. Prob a bit cheaper buying online and shipping to store but I’m fine paying little bit more to be able to return or swap as much as I want within the 30 day period and with free rotations and checks. The falcons are only $50 per tire less but they aren’t as good of a brand as Goodyear.

Falken Wildpeak AT3W have great reviews, long tread life, and are amazing in snow and rain. I'm running their 285/70/17 and paid $550 for the set of 4 plus $100 mount and balance. 60K mile tire. I don't doubt these Goodyear tires will perform very well, just not sure they're worth the $ over another tire that likely performs just as well.

Ya I don’t doubt they’re great tires could even be better. Just saying Goodyear isn’t trying to compete with Falken on tires they got other brands they’re shooting for

Truth be told, they should be. A likely equal quality product at half the price is very appealing to most. The AT3W has been out a while and has become extremely popular. This new tire still has a lot to prove and has it's share of competition. It is a good looking tire, has a nice looking sidewall for sure. I'm sure it will serve everyone very well.

LOL Falken is owned by Sumitomo Japan and Sumitomo just ended an 18 yr relationship with Good Year in 2015... meaning for a time Falken parent company made and private label Good Year Tires..

Ha I’m not bashing Falken or any other tires. I’m saying Goodyear is a top tier brand. Why argue that? It’s not offensive to say Toyota is a more established and well known brand then Hyundai even though Hyundai makes amazing cars too. Another example one of my motorcycles is a lesser known brand even though they make parts for Harley bmw Honda etc. It doesn’t make my motorcycle a name brand though and I saved money by purchasing the lesser established brand even if it’s as good or better than the big ones. I wanted a name brand tire and glad I found the Goodyears. Simple as that.

I wonder who really makes those "Goodyears?" Odds are its not Goodyear. But it could be. Who knows?

And don't forget the fact that Goodyear has killed a lot of people because they put improper tires on vehicles. I'll take a pass on these. Goodyear can suck it
