Awesome thread.

As someone who didn’t grow up around doing a lot of DIY maintenance on vehicles all of these maintenance threads are so helpful for me.

Recently got a 2020 TRD Off road and looking forward to learning as much as I can and doing as much work myself as I can to try and make sure the job gets done right.

Slowly making a list of all the tools and equipment I’ll need.

The grease I pump in is red, so it's easy to see a color change from dark gray to red when old grease is pushed out and replaced with fresh. I grease at 10,000 mile intervals or once a year.

Nice! I have learned a lot from this forum. I started just like you. It's pretty damn satisfying to do your own work. Keep at it.

Other lube points

Hi Guys, So much good info on this subject.
Is there any other zerk fittings besides the 6 on the drive shaft that we should be lubing while we are under there?

Thanks

Is it ok to use moly grease on the spiders too? I've got a tube of XHP 462 I use for my UCAs.

pretty easy to do. Once you do it the first time, you won't forget how to to do it.

A grease gun with a flexible hose makes life easy.

I have a Lock n Load gun and for the life of me I can't get to the middle spider zerk fitting.. wont fit.. tried jacking my truck up to see if it moves a little and it did, but not enough.. I need a regular gun for this one f'n fitting.

I did this today. My truck has approx 60000 miles and it took a good 4 - 5 pumps to get new grease out of the spider yokes.

The slip yokes, I did about 7 pumps, nothing came back out of the zerk fitting hole when the truck was bounced up and down, but I did not want to over-grease them, so maybe I will grease them again in 6000 miles or so, after it has had a chance to heat up and spread out. (the truck is still not road registered so I couldn't do this today)

Another very useful guide, thank you OP.

Done at 30,000 miles. Opps, missed the 15,000 mile interval.

I bit the bullet and bought two lock and lube grease guns.
They are awesome,

I use Mystik high temp (red) for the zerks, . and Mystik moly for the slide yoke

I did not lift the car, just move it back and forth till the zerks were showing up. for the zerks, pump until old grease is out.
for the slide yoke, I did 2 or 3 pumps..
