"plug-n-play" Remote Start Kit!

Hey tech-team,

Whenever I run across anything that I believe helps to solve a problem, or just makes life a lil' easier, I'll try and share it here for the benefit of my piers! Well, I ran across this kit that I find very compelling. It's a true "plug-n-play" 'Remote Start Kit'!

All of the others that I've seen on the market or aftermarket were either, TOO costly (like the system from the factory), or require a great deal of wiring under the hood and around the two fuse-boxes; which, if ANY mistakes are made, you may find yourself at the dealership paying "through the nose", and at their mercy if you want their (Non-warrantied) help!

I saw this kit on you-tube. It requires no wiring under the hood or pulling any wires through the firewall, and no cutting of ANY wires whatsoever! The how-to video is here below:

https://youtu.be/ymHdX4bBgDw

https://www.12volt.solutions/product...v2-1-smart-key

The kit covers ALL 5'th gen 4Runners, 2010 thru 2019 and you'll use your existing "Smart-key or non-Smart-key" instead of carrying two different key FOB's: one to start it, and the other to unlock and use it to drive the truck!

The cost: $279.99 and could install in just 2 to 3 hours for first-timers! 'Best',

rig

Check out the remote starter from accessorides. I love mine. It is 100% plug and play for the “G Key” and smart key, they are a forum sponsor, and they offer a discount code “4runner”. I saved over $100 compared to the comparable cost of the 12-volt solutions remote starter with app control.

Reading the instructions it says you have to push the lock button three more times to shut it down and it doesn't turn off when the doors are opened. Can you open the door, stick the key in the ignition and go? Or do you have to shut it down then restart like factory?

You can unlock the door, stick the key in, turn 2 positions and then put the truck in gear

Install manual from their website clearly states that "remote start will turn off if any door or hatch is open in any Toyota/Lexus model. Also it can not be bypassed".

Push to Start the vehicle shuts off when opening a door.

Regular key which uses a different kit and does not shut down with door and is not 100% plug and play
https://www.12volt.solutions/product...ota~md_4runner

You should add a hood pin switch to shut down the remote start in case the hood is open and the truck doesn't have hood detection from factory

Range is limited to how far the oem remote reaches

There are other t-harness solutions out there but most are installed by the vendor, example:

That's for the smart key model, the standard key model clearly states;

"Special notes about this Remote Start Kit

Remote Start will NOT shut off when the door is opened"

Disappointed AF!

I was just about to pull the trigger on the Accessorides remote start system and then I cam across this post stating that vehicles with the push button start shut off when you open the door. I assume there are no remote start kits that will allow you to remote start the car, enter the vehicle and then put it into gear and pull off without having to restart the vehicle? This would defeat the point of having a remote start system, I guess I will have to abandon the idea.

We have a Highlander that turns off when the door is opened but that's a small price to pay when it's -20 and the car is warmed up ready to go instead of getting in, starting up and waiting 5 or 10 minutes to avoid excess wear and tear...

I just had the Compustar installed on my ‘22 for $350. I don’t have the patience to work on things anymore so I paid to have it installed.
