I have a couple of aluminum cross bars on order and the wind fairing. I'll let you know.

So I bought 4 crossbars and found the noise over 45MPH to be noticeable. A little bothersome above 70MPH. I then bought a wind fairing and the wind noise is negligible at any speed. I'd strongly recommend a wind fairing if noise is a concern.

I haven't heard any noises unless I'm above 85 mph or in a windy day.

Questions about 7/8 rack.
Are there plans for aluminum side rails for the 7/8 rack?
Can you get it with all aluminum cross bars?
General rack questions.
Can you skip installing 2 crossbars so that snowboard bindings have room face down?
Can it be picked up in Colorado? Nevermind. I see that it can.
Thanks

So, how long are orders processed before shipping confirmation?

I'm really liking the look of these skids!
Just wondering, what is the benefit of the wide front skid?
Obviously it covers more, but are there vulnerable parts not covered by the standard width skid? It looks like it covers the LCA bolts...do those get whacked a lot?
Excuse the noob questions, I just got my 4R a month ago and haven't hit any real trails yet. The stock skids would prob suffice for me for now, but somewhere along the line they got tossed, as they're missing.
2013 TE, btw.
Thanks!

All of the aluminum racks now ship with aluminum side rails also. We do include two steel crossbars still, because those are still best for RTT mounting. If you dont plan on using a RTT we could swap the two steels out so it is all aluminum.
You can leave out as many crossbars as you want. We've run racks with only two crossbars (And side rails without crossbars at all, but theres not much point in that!)
Pickup is in North Carolina only. Our plant is located in a town called Denver, frequently confused with Denver, CO. The nickname of our town is actually "Denver of the East"

Depends on what you ordered, but we're running about three to four weeks out from time of order on average at the moment.

The wide skid does cover the lower bolts, and just a bit more surface area underneath to slide on. I ran the regular skid for a year, doing some pretty hard rock crawling, and never actually hit those bolts, but it does offer a bit more protection and piece of mind.
If you aren't rock crawling, you most likely won't see an advantage going to the wide.

Thanks for the info! The extra peace of mind with the larger skid is prob worth the extra 40 bucks
I actually DID hit that bolt the other day, I was on a muddy road trying to straddle the ruts, when I slid into the center. When I hit bottom, I bottomed the front end. When I cleared the mud and got to dry ground, I looked underneath and saw the driver's side LCA, bolt, and chassis where the bolt is were encased in dirt. Apparently when I bottomed the LCA smacked down on the berm. It did no harm, luckily it was just soft ground, but it COULD have been a rock.
I don't plan on doing much rock crawling, but I live in New England and there are rocks everywhere.
Sorry for another question, but would these front skids be compatible with other brands, if I decided to go with a trans and t-case skids later on down the line?
Thanks!

They are compatible with other brands, but we're also releasing the rest of the skid set this spring too.

Just put my LFD wind fairing/deflector on and at 60 mph it vibrates like someone left a dremmel running on the roof. Any one have any advice? Noticed some noise before the deflector with just the LFD across bars but that was normal wind noise, this is definitely not normal wind noise. I’ve got the deflector pushed all the way back and it’s as tight as I’m comfortable cranking it down without running the risk of stripping any of the supplied hardware.

I think so - just got a response from the email I sent via the LFD website. Thanks for the super fast response.
