Just a tip, when you bolt-up the rear/middle two bolts at the crossmember, make sure to use the spacers LFD provides to get clearance..I almost missed them in the bag because I used my own zinc-coated bolts for the install!
Any pics installed? Looks good

what's the weight difference between the aluminum and steel ruggedized roof cross bars? is the weight limit the same? do they come with hardware? I was really close to pulling the trigger on rago cross bars, but I like the aluminum idea much better and that look to have more clearance between the bottom of the bar and the top of the roof.

and what's the difference between the 5th gen regular skid and the wide one?

I would like to know the difference also. I’m thinking about the Rago crossbars and was considering the Prinsu until I heard about many quality issues. What is the total weight of the LFD 3/4 rack in aluminum as compared to steel? What type of wind noise does this rack produce and is there any clearance problem with a sunroof? Also, any measurable difference in gas mileage? TIA

No issues with noise or clearance on my full rack, for what it's worth.

Stock side rails

I want to know if I can put a CVT tent on top of lfd cross bars on stock side rails?
I’m don’t want to spend another $500 I already spent about $2000 on the tent

I rough it out, we don’t need no stinking tent.

I highly doubt you could with stock side rails. You already spent all that money, mind as well finish it would the structural sound LFD side rails.

Why couldn’t you? Those oem side rails are bolted on and just as strong as any other rack.

Pretty sure @007Tacoma had a RTT on LFD crossbars before putting a rack on.

I have a hard shell RTT on LFD crossbars on the stock rails. No issues on sleeping but I am concerned about its front end bouncing at high speed (after 40 mph). I am getting 7/8 roof racks and I am hoping the bouncing issue would be eliminated.

I have the LFD cross bars with stock side rails and a tent. Works just fine.

I know you can with the RAGO reinforced cross bars mounted into the factory roof rails..it's what they're made for and why they're reinforced to hold up to 500lbs (I believe that's the number from Rago).

Yeahhh I've been meaning to get one, I finished up the install in the dark that day. I'll get one up, maybe at lunch today, I love this thing it looks great and is a solid, not overly gawdy or "customized" addition. Should do the trick great once I get to the testing!

Got the LFD crossbars installed yesterday.... and this morning's ride to work sounded like I was riding on 40" boggers. I assume this is normal due to the size/shape of the bars, just sounded extra loud. I did take a look to make sure no hardware backed out during the drive. Anyone else have the same sound issue after installing crossbars?

Btw, the crossbars are perfect for my needs and look great on the truck, can't wait to find something to haul up there. Thanks Jacob and Scott for all your help and a great product.

Just blacked out the rails and added three LFD bars and noticed the same wind noise. I've noticed it's worse if there is a cross wind. Nonetheless, they are stout and look good and I have confidence hauling almost anything up there now.
